In this episode of Zombie Popcorn Radio we look into the mind that created a new vision of vampires, werewolves, parasols and tea – the wonderful and talented, Gail Carriger.
New York Times Bestselling author Gail Carriger began writing in order to cope with being raised in obscurity by an expatriate Brit and an incurable curmudgeon. She escaped small town life and inadvertently acquired several degrees in Higher Learning. Ms. Carriger then traveled the historic cities of Europe, subsisting entirely on biscuits secreted in her handbag. She now resides in the Colonies, surrounded by fantastic shoes, where she insists on tea imported directly from London. She is fond of teeny tiny hats and tropical fruit. The Parasol Protectorate books are: Soulless (Oct. 2009), Changeless (March 2010),Blameless (Sept. 2010), Heartless(2011), and Timeless (2012). Soulless won the ALA’s Alex Award.
Gail is the author of the The Parasol Protectorate Series. The books are comedies of manners set in Victorian London: full of vampires, dirigibles, and tea. They are either Jane Austen doing urban fantasy, or PG Wodehouse doing steampunk. Soulless, Book the First, came out October 2009 and the ‘Soulless’ audiobook was named one of Audible‘s top 20 sleeper hits. Changeless, Book the Second, in March 2010 and is a New York Times Bestseller. Blameless will be released September 1, 2010 from Orbit US. Heartless is due out Spring of 2011, and Timeless in the Spring of 2012.
Everything you ever wanted to know about Gail, her work, her strong dislike of sweet tea, steampunk, food and other things you would never think would come up in an interview is revealed here on Zombie Popcorn Radio.
So, put the tea pot on because for the next 2 hours sweet iced tea is not welcomed here, and enjoy this wonderful evening with Gail Carriger.
and in Grindhouse vision

Zombie Popcorn Radio started back in September 2009 and it was just Josh and me. Since that time we have grown and now Paul has become apart of the show and has contributed his music by creating the Zombie Popcorn Radio intro.
We have met some wonderful people during the time of doing the show and a couple of the listeners have become staples of the show. If you have ever listened to an episode or watched it in 3D, then you know 3DmovieMan and Jen. – If not, what are you waiting for?
We have also interviewed some amazing people on Zombie Popcorn Radio, including a long time 3D idol of mine, Mr. Tony Anthony. Check out the list of people we interviewed in such a short time that we have been live on the ‘air’.
So it was time to make a bigger home for Zombie Popcorn Radio because we have no plans of stopping. Check out the new look of Zombie Popcorn Radio and let me know what you think and don’t forget to tune in every Saturday Night at 7-9pm Eastern.
PS – I am still working on the site and updating all of the episodes so the most current ones are currently not up – but this gives you a chance to listen to some of the very first episodes. So enjoy

What make this episode different is we watch the film ‘The New Barbarians’ aka ‘Warriors of the Wasteland’ with you!
What is ‘The New Barbarians’? Well, this review should sum it up..
This post-apocalyptic low-budget romp has it all: A homosexual death cult that navigates the wasteland in 20 horsepower go-carts, looking for things to kill! A dashing lone wolf survivor who maintains a rather ambiguous relationship with a prepubescent boy (who also happens to be the local go-to auto mechanic)! Former NFL star Fred Williamson, who’s totally sweet archery skills are second only to his arsenal of exploding arrowheads!!! Add to all of this a hot and vulnerable female lead, a cheesy electronic score, and a bunch of awesome monologues by the leader of the bad guys (“There is only one faith! One ecstasy! DEATH!!!”), and you got one hell of a good time! Take it from a true connoisseur of crap: this movie is worth the low price. Best enjoyed with a few beers and a sense of humor.
Starting tonight on Zombie Popcorn Radio we are launching something new for the site.
Tonight, we start the Zombie Popcorn Audio Book Club! We can totally one-up Oprah with our book club. On Saturday, April 3rd at 7-9pm Eastern – Zombie Popcorn Radio will be invaded by Aliens.
We will be interviewing a man who says he has been in contact with both the grey and reptilian aliens very frequently. In fact, he said they have given him permission to ‘channel’ them (the aliens) during the interview – meaning we can ask the aliens questions.
So get your questions ready because this Saturday – Zombie Popcorn Radio is going to be OUT OF THIS WORLD!
Don’t know much about the grey aliens or the reptilian aliens?
Here is a little blurb about them that I found online — I am sure if this description is wrong we can have it clearified during the interview.
The Greys
There are several sub-types of the greys. All tend to appear greyish in color and for this reason are reffered to as “greys”. They have large heads and black “wrap around”eyes. They have limited facial features, slit for a mouth and no nose to speak of.They have evolved beyond the need for reproductive systems or digestive systems and reproduce by cloning.Their genetics are partly based on insectoidal genetics.Their science deals largely with the study of other life forms and genetic engineering. They have supposedly had a part to play in the alteration of human genetics over thousands of years. It seems that they may be trying to cross breed with humans in order to create a “mixture race” that would be better than either. They seem to be emotionless and therefor are seen as cruel in their treatment of human beings. These greys are actually servants to a master race of reptilian-type aliens known as the Reptilians.
The Reptilians
A genetics akin to reptiles, these are highly advanced entities but viewed as being negatives, hostile or dangerous disposition since they regard humans as a totally inferior race. They would perceive us much the way we would perceive a herd of cattle.Reptillians are carnivorous in regard to humans. They consider earth to be their own ancient outpost and would expect to have complete control of the entire planet upon their return.Their own planet is becoming unable to adequately support life and they need somewhere else to live. They have the greys “working” for them as they wish not to be seen.
If you caught last weeks episode of Zombie Popcorn Radio, you would have been introduced to our next guest, Lisa Phillips.
Lisa is a
Spiritual Advisor
she preforms Psychic Readings and will do one live on the show.
Medium
she does Physical & Spiritual Energy Cleansings
she also does Law Enforcement Cold Case Readings.
For over 25 years, Lisa Phillips, also fondly known as “MamaLisa,” has been assisting and guiding people to
the wonderful life that is theirs through her psychic insight and angelic-guided mediumistic abilities. She is
always in demand by those in need of spiritual assistance and demonic cleansings.
She recognized her calling as well as her various abilities at the tender age of 3. Her father, a strict and
unyielding fundamental spiritual warrior, discouraged this development. However, in her teen years she began
to fully embrace her natural and God-given gifts through the help of her angels and also started building her
relationship with God and the Powers That Be. Lisa was schooled in communicating with the angelic realm and
also learned how to discern demonic entities as well.
With over 2 decades of hands-on experience after performing countless energy healings, cleansings, and
exorcisms, she has developed a broad and unique set of skills. She also works closely with other gifted
mediums and energy healers and is in constant communication with the angelic realm which further assists her
in her work. Her strengths are her unconditional love, strong faith, wisdom, humility, and her joyous laughter.
She has been called to help people from all walks of life regardless of their religious beliefs or backgrounds,
and approaches each and every situation with great respect and sensitivity.
In addition, MamaLisa is one of the host of the popular Supernatural Encounters Radio Show which can be
heard on Para-X.com every Tuesday at 8pm EST.
She is available for a wide array of services including: consultations, spiritual counseling, spiritual development,
entity removal, psychic readings, seminars, and cold case readings for law enforcement. Her specialty is the
exorcism of malevolent and demonic entities. She is regularly sought out by both private homeowners and
paranormal groups who are dealing with these types of negative situations.
Along with all of that Lisa runs the radio program called, Supernatural Encounters Radio with her co-host Nathan Levan.
So as you can see she is a very BUSY woman and we are very happy that she is taking time out to come on the show to talk with us. She is even going to do a reading LIVE on air of me!

Interview with Godfather of Demonology, John Zaffis
John Zaffis has over thirty years of experience studying and investigating the paranormal. He has had the opportunity to work for and with his aunt and uncle, Ed and Lorraine Warren. This sent John beyond looking for ghosts and hauntings and into studying demonology under the Warrens. This led into John’s involvement with cases of possession and exorcism and working with prominent exorcists in this field. Roman Catholic priests, monks, Buddhists, rabbis and ministers. John has assisted and worked with well-known exorcists Bishop Robert McKenna, Malachi Martin and the Rev Jun.
His research has taken him throughout the United States, Canada, England and Scotland covering several thousands of cases. Through hands on investigating with other investigators and clergy, he has obtained a great deal of knowledge and understanding of the paranormal and is considered one of the foremost authorities in the field today.
Ghosts and poltergeists where among some of his first-hand paranormal experiences, as well as the demonic and diabolical. He has also worked extensively with both spiritualists and psychics concerning how their knowledge is used for channeling, reincarnation (past-life regression), or the calling of the spirits for information, and how they use meditation to acquire the information which they are seeking. Because of his personal experiences with hauntings, ESP, near death experiences and other paranormal activities, he is firm in his conviction that such phenomena exist.
John has been featured in the Discovery Channel’s documentaries A Haunting in Connecticut and Little Lost Souls. John has also appeared on Unsolved Mysteries, Fox News Live, and many other print and news media events. John is also in the books of Ed and Lorraine Warren GRAVEYARDS and IN A DARK PLACE.
John’s first book, Shadows of the Dark, co-written with Brian McIntyre, was released in September, 2004. John is working on multiple follow-up books currently, and is lecturing all over the United States at colleges and universities.
Last Saturday night Paul and I went out to the Eastern Paranormal Investigators Co-Op Conference with hopes of interviewing John Zaffis. John has been coined as the ‘Godfather of Demonology’ and is a very intelligent and entertaining man.
Luck was on our side because he agreed to sit down and talk to us. We will broadcast his interview on Saturday March 20th at 7-9pm(EST) on Zombie Popcorn Radio.
So if you are scratching your head and asking yourself, “who is John Zaffis?” Let me fill you in…

The moment you have all been waiting for – the re-broadcast of Zombie Popcorn’s interview with Tony Anthony.
Tony Anthony is a former film actor, producer, director, and screenwriter, best known for his starring roles in spaghetti westerns and his 1981 3D movie, Comin’ At Ya!
This is a very rare opportunity to interview Tony Anthony because he did not talk to the press much at all during his career. So we are forever grateful that he came on Zombie Popcorn Radio.
We talked about his career in the film industry from his start all the way up to the current date and the re-release of the film that kicked off the 3D revolution in the 1980’s – Comin’ At Ya!
Here is a short bio and then listen to the show or watch it in 3D – all details after the bio.
Tony Anthony is largely credited with the revival of the 3-D concept in the early 1980s. Anthony did, however work for many years on Spaghetti Westerns (some with co-production company Lupo-Anthony-Quintano Productions). He produced and starred in two 3-Dimensional movies, both of which enjoyed a modest theatrical release. After making these two films, Anthony effectively retired from the movie industries (except for the occasional production work with friend Gene Quintano or Mark Damon).

YAY! It is re-broadcast Wednesday! – Just like every Wednesday we re-broadcast last weeks Zombie Popcorn Radio show – in case you missed it. As always this show and all the others can be found in the Zombie Popcorn Radio Archive section and on itunes.
Last Saturday’s show was the Zombie Popcorn Radio Road Trip show. We had plans to be zombies in an upcoming zombie western film, but due to the weather the shoot was canceled.
So our trip became Two dudes in the car listening to Enigma stopping to talk to a serial killer, looking at jars with fetus, one eyed pig, and other things inside them. Yes, we did interview the people who own them.
This show is too bizarre to explain – so stop reading and start listening.

I was going to wait and post this later in the week but I am too excited to wait.
On Sat. Feb. 13th, 2010 7-9pm (EST), the actor/director/writer, Tony Anthony will be on Zombie Popcorn Radio.
Tony Anthony is a former film actor, producer, director, and screenwriter, best known for his starring roles in spaghetti westerns and his 1981 3D movie, Comin’ At Ya!
You can do a quick Google of his name and see that he doesn’t do many interviews so to have him on the show is something really remarkable. We are going to talk about his career in the film industry from his start all the way up to the current date and the re-release of the film that kicked off the 3D revolution in the 1980′s – Comin’ At Ya!
Here is a blurb about Comin’ At Ya! and a sneak peak of a 2D trailer of the upcoming re-release, Coming At Ya!
H.H. Hart, a bank robber, loses his wife to kidnappers on their wedding day. Subsequently, she is traded as a prostitute by villain Gene Quintano . H.H. Hart races against time to find his wife, with the help of a priest.
Tony’s history in film goes back further and offers some amazing non-3D movies such as the ‘Blindman’ where he co-stars next to Ringo Starr, yes from the Beatles.
Blindman (1971) is about a blind, but deadly, gunman (Tony Anthony), is hired to escort fifty mail order brides to their miner husbands. His business partners double cross him, selling the women to bandit Domingo. Blindman heads into Mexico in pursuit.
And who can’t forget about the series that I grew up watching back in good ol’ Texas – The Stranger series.
It starred Anthony as the Stranger, a shotgun-wielding antihero who helps a group of Mexican bandits steal gold from the US Army and Federales, and then steals it right back from them.
These are just a few of the great films we will talk about with Tony Anthony on Sat. Feb. 13th, 2010. 7-9pm (EST)
So mark your calendar and tune in Feb. 13th, 2010 7-9pm (EST)

Sometimes when you have good friends and a radio show you just have to talk about music. So join us in this weeks re-broadcast while we interview Matthew from The Matthew Show.
Matthew plays live music for us and we learn more about his history in music.
Born and raised in rural Texas, matthew spent 10 years navigating the murky waters of the North Texas music scene in a variety of rock bands. He moved to New York in 2002 to begin a solo career as the matthew show, eventually moving operations back to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in 2006 due to hipster fatigue.
In 2003 his debut solo album, texas, was released to wide critical acclaim. His songs have been featured on two seasons of the PBS series Roadtrip Nation, and on National Public Radio’s All Songs Considered.
In 2005, his cover of Warren Zevon’s Mohammed’s Radio was included on the bestselling tribute album Hurry Home Early, and his song Bring Me Safely Down won second place in American Songwriter magazine’s Lyric Competition.
In 2006, his song Office Suite, Part I was used as the soundtrack to lonelygirl15′s YouTube video The Tolstoy Principle, which has since gained nearly half a million views due to coverage in Wired and the New York Times.
He has performed live with acts as diverse as Hamell On Trial and Goodwin, and headlined 2004′s JournalCon in Washington DC. He has worked with artists such as Cubano-classical favorites Las Rubias del Norte, NYC celebrity street musician Dorian Spencer, renowned violinist Reggie Rueffer, and avant-garde composer Little Jack Melody.
matthew performs regularly as Matthew Perreault in the virtual world Second Life, where his live concerts draw fans from around the real world and throughout the metaverse.
matthew’s non-musical activities have included writing and editing children’s nonfiction books, being one of Fandango.com’s first movie reviewers, providing commentaries on Dallas’ KERA FM, and performing as an extra on the late, lamented Walker, Texas Ranger.
matthew’s second album, february, was released in October 2008 by Wampus Multimedia:

If you listened to the Zombie Popcorn Radio show last night you would have heard the interview with James Lawler – the director of the 3D film, ‘Archangel‘. If you missed the interview don’t worry the re-broadcast will hit iTunes on Wednesday.
The interview was great and you will learn a lot about his projects – for example. Did you know that there will be a Special Screening of the 3D film Archangel in NYC?
When: January 13 at 7pm
Where: Dolby Screening Room 1350 6th Avenue at 55th Street in New York City
The Screening is free and open to the public and there will be a Q+A with the filmmakers following the screening. 3D glasses will be provided free of charge. If you are in the NYC area you need to make it to this screening. (If you go please send me your review/thoughts about the film.) So what is this film about?
There is a memory shared by thousands, of a shadow that wrapped around the earth as the sun went dark. And then came the light, from everywhere, all at once, and the dreams of an extinct species began to explode from the crevices of a scorched earth; from silicate and water rose towers millions of stories tall, shooting upwards and wrapping around the stars. The sum total of everything that ever was, is, and shall be, a universe that contains all things possible to imagine, now glistens in the light of the furthest stars as the new order balloons outwards through the light cone.In a strange slumber, unaware, an American city slowly decays. There, a troubled young man is plagued by fits of violent rage. One day, in a horrific trance, he slaughters a group of innocents. Despondent, ashamed and unable to understand his actions, he decides to end his life. He is rescued from suicide by a woman who promises to explain the mystery of his awful abilities, a woman who is just like him.Archangel, rise.
Every trailer that comes out for this film makes me want to see it more and more. I just hope they are not showing the entire movie in the trailers.
So check out the new trailer and let me know what you think.
(more after the break)

2010 is kicking off to be a good year for 3D – yes, stereoscopic 3D aka S3d. As you know I have been in LOVE with 3D since I was a small child and there has been so much news about 3D in the press the last couple of weeks, I have been like a kid in a candy store – without the diabetes of course.
The first exciting new for 3D and Zombie Popcorn Radio is that we are going 3D – starting Saturday 9, 2010 we will be broadcasting in glorious 3D – so grab your anaglyph 3D glasses -you know the red and blue glasses. In the rest of the world other people are making their products into 3D.
Direct TV is launching three 3D only channels this year, ESPN is launching their 3D TV network in June, and Discovery, IMAX and Sony are teaming up to create their own 3D channel. This is only a fraction of all the 3D news going around and while CES is running you will see more the 3D industry takeover.
