If there’s anything I’ve learned in my years it’s, that religion is mostly a lie . . . .
Oh, don’t get all huffy - puffy over that, cause science is mostly a lie too. . .
You know what’s not a lie?
Everything you heard as a kid is true. . .
They wait under your bed . . .
ready to taste your sleepy head.
They’ll pull you down when your alone . . .
to lick your flesh and break your bones . . . .
And we have the footage to prove it. . . .
Take a look . . .
I dare you. . . . .
(more after the break)
This is a track that Jason and I worked on quite a while ago.
Actually, it’s our first project, from over a year ago . . . it’s our third video. . . but first video ever completed. . . wait . . . what?
Anyway, we love horror movies, monsters and industrial music. . . we hope you do too.
Let us know what you think of the song. . . . just send a quick e-mail or post in the comments section. . . if enough people like it we’ll make more.

While everyone is wearing green today, I would like to cover this day in red and offer a look into the blood splattering of Irish horror films.
Anytime you talk about Irish horror films you have to include, Dead Meat.
A diseased cow escapes slaughter and infects the countryside. But instead of spreading mad-cow disease, the cow’s plague turns the people in the surrounding area into flesh-eating zombies.
The next film is one we talked about before here on Zombie Popcorn and by Irish directors. That film is Shrooms.
Having been promised the ‘trip’ of a lifetime by their Irish friend and mushroom expert Jake (Jack Huston), a group of American teenagers arrives in Ireland, keen for adventure. Despite Jake’s warnings about the “shrooms they shouldn’t eat,” things start to go horribly wrong when one of the five American tourists, Tara (Lindsey Haun) munches a “Death’s Head” fungus and immediately suffers convulsions and dark visions. While confined to a tent that night as the others listen to Jake’s ghost story around the campfire, the horrific details of this barely-overheard yarn from the man who brought her out of convulsions becomes Tara’s new reality. The next day, as the group is bloodily whittled down to one, it is eventually becomes clear that, whether or not Tara’s apparitions are real, the carnage they leave behind certainly is. Since everyone is now high on “shroom tea,” it’s anyone’s guess who will last the longest. Will the jock Bluto (Rob Hoffman) succumb to the talking cow, or the succubus in the muddy car? Will long-haired Molly (Alice Greczyn) perish at the hands of the Texas chainsaw-type guys, or the dog-boy? Will bitchy Lisa (Maya Hazen) be snared above or below the reedy lake water? Will martial-arts wannabe Troy (Max Kasch) get gashed in the forest clearing, or abandoned orphanage hallway? Will Jake die from his jump through an upper window, or due to an axe in his brain? Even after a helicopter locates the sextet’s lone survivor, and a land ambulance takes her toward the hospital, the slaughter will continue.
Isolation
The broken farmer Dan rents his farm for the scientist John from the Bovine Genetics Technology that is researching genetic modifications of cattle to increase its fertilization. The veterinarian Orla is bitten by the calf while helping the cow to deliver, and she feels that something went wrong with the experiment. During the night, the cow has a narrow passage for the calf, and Dan asks the young couple Jamie and Mary that is parked in a trailer in front of his farm’s entrance to help him in the delivery. When the offspring is born, it bites Dan; Orla arrives later and realizes that it is a genetic anomaly and she sacrifices the calf. During the autopsy of the animal, she discovers that the fetus is pregnant and she destroys the freak hybrids. However, one of them escapes and attacks a cow first and Jamie later. When John arrives in the farm, he discovers that there is the danger of infection of human beings and decides to quarantine the spot. But one offspring is alive and need to be captured.
The next film was written by Clive Barker and directed by George Pavlou (British) but the storyline is based in Ireland and totally worth the mention. – Rawhead Rex
Ireland will never be the same after Rawhead Rex, a particularly nasty demon, is released from his underground prison by an unwitting farmer. The film follows Rex’s cross country rampage, while a man struggles to stop it.
The Daisy Chain is a film that should be on everyone’s top watch list.
A grieving couple move to a remote Irish village in the wake of their baby daughter’s death. They soon take in an orphaned autistic girl, only to become involved in a series of strange occurrences.
The story unfolds as young rosaleen lies dreaming in her bed. A violent nightmare transports her back in time to a world of primeval forests & werewolves. She learns her only sister has been killed by a wolf. Her granny weaves vivid tales of folklore & fantasy with warnings of beasts that lurk within men.

I have been hearing people say that movies are getting expensive and they don’t buy them anymore.
That makes me sad because there is nothing better to do than watching a good horror film with your loved one and/or with a group of friends. So I created The Zombie Popcorn quick guide to cheap movies – a list of horror movies you can get under $10.00.
This is not a complete list but it will point you in the right direction to help your collection grow. So enjoy and watch more movies.

Tonight we have a very special guest, Matthew from The Matthew Show.
Matthew is a good friend and a talented musician and he will be joining us throughout the entire show and playing his songs live.
Born and raised in rural Texas, matthew spent 10 years navigating the murky waters of the North Texas music scene in a variety of rock bands. He moved to New York in 2002 to begin a solo career as the matthew show, eventually moving operations back to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in 2006 due to hipster fatigue.
In 2003 his debut solo album, texas, was released to wide critical acclaim. His songs have been featured on two seasons of the PBS series Roadtrip Nation, and on National Public Radio’s All Songs Considered.
In 2005, his cover of Warren Zevon’s Mohammed’s Radio was included on the bestselling tribute album Hurry Home Early, and his song Bring Me Safely Down won second place in American Songwriter magazine’s Lyric Competition.
In 2006, his song Office Suite, Part I was used as the soundtrack to lonelygirl15′s YouTube video The Tolstoy Principle, which has since gained nearly half a million views due to coverage in Wired and the New York Times.
He has performed live with acts as diverse as Hamell On Trial and Goodwin, and headlined 2004′s JournalCon in Washington DC. He has worked with artists such as Cubano-classical favorites Las Rubias del Norte, NYC celebrity street musician Dorian Spencer, renowned violinist Reggie Rueffer, and avant-garde composer Little Jack Melody.
matthew performs regularly as Matthew Perreault in the virtual world Second Life, where his live concerts draw fans from around the real world and throughout the metaverse.
matthew’s non-musical activities have included writing and editing children’s nonfiction books, being one of Fandango.com’s first movie reviewers, providing commentaries on Dallas’ KERA FM, and performing as an extra on the late, lamented Walker, Texas Ranger.

You may have noticed the Ads that are on the right hand side of the Zombie Popcorn pages and posts. They are ads for SideShow Collectibles. Inc. I am a HUGE fan of the work that SideShow puts out and that is why I have the ads on this site. I will only put things on the site that I have interests in and by far SideShow Collectibles fits my interests.
They produce some of the best horror and film collectible figures and props I have ever seen. I have several SideShow figures in my collection – maybe I will show them off in the 3D broadcast of Zombie Popcorn Radio one Saturday. Anyway, the craftsmanship of the items I own are perfect and I love how they don’t just make a figure they put a story behind each piece of work they do. I can’t tell if I am obsessed with their products because they are so nicely done or if it is because they perfectly capture moments from the films I love.
Look at their collection of Universal Monsters figures. These two are by far my favorite.
Now they are going to do another Jason Voorhees and you know that Friday the 13th is loved by all of Zombie Popcorn’s contributors.
So take a moment and check out this video on the new Friday the 13th figure SideShow Collectibles are working on and don’t forget to pre-order one for me.

I went to see “New Moon” today, and while I enjoyed the film and the books very much, it is all starting to become ridiculous how much attention these movies are getting. I guess every generation has it’s thing and this is it. It makes sense now that Harry Potter is almost over that there will be a new film series for the kids. I guess I can’t really say too much since I DO like the films (and I am one of the few males to admit it) because I went nuts over the Spider-Man movies and the X-Men movies, and the Matrix, so I have had my share of films to die for.
I was looking around on line on Friday and in the midst of all the New Moon stuff found this video and found it to be very humorous. I don’t know if you will like it if you are not fans of the books and films but I thought it was worth sharing! Here you go…The way Twilight should have ended………….

People may not agree with this review due to the fact that I don’t really have anything bad to say about this remake of the 1974 horror film which holds the number 43 spot on Bravo’s 100 Scariest Movie Moments. I do have to admit that I have not seen the original so I have no bias or grounds to compare the two films. Which is a good thing because if I had seen the original I probably would have a different view of the latter film.
“It’s Alive” begins with Lenore (Bijou Phillips- Hostel 2, Almost Famous, Havoc) packing up her things, and leaving school due to the fact that she is pregnant. Her friends think taking the wrong path and that she should not give up on school. Disregarding her friends suggestions she moves in with her boyfriend Frank and his disabled brother, in order to prepare for the birth of their child. Almost as soon as Lenore moves into Frank’s house things start going wrong. The baby comes a few months early, but is healthy as can be. While in the delivery room the Lenore is given a sedative and the doctors proceed with a C-section. After the delivery, we find out that all of the doctors have been brutally murdered.
As we go further into the film we find out that the baby is a blood thirsty demon and needs to feed on blood to grow big and strong. We find out that Lenore had tried to take drugs to abort the pregnancy, and this leads the viewer to believe that the drugs had an effect on the baby. I thought the movie was executed pretty well, it delves into Lenore being protective of her baby, so she cleans up his bloody messes, and gives him his baths, just so he can get all bloody again. After all the animals in the area are gone the baby (Daniel, played by BAD CGI) moves on to Lenore’s friends and loved ones. Bringing the movie to a “burning” conclusion.
I enjoyed “It’s Alive” the only thing that really got to me was the CGI used in the part of Daniel, it looked too fake. It has some good bloody gore moments and kinda freaked me out a few times. But overall I would give the film a 6 out of 10, not the best movie I have ever seen but definitely not the worst. Be sure to tune in to Zombie Popcorn Radio on Saturdays 7-9 eastern time, and catch the replay on Wednesday and download the podcast from iTunes, we will be talking about “It’s Alive” and other things horror related.

The rules of Halloween:
1. Wear a costume.
2. Hand out treats.
3. Never blow out a jack o’ lantern.
4. And ALWAYS check your candy.
Hello everyone, this is Josh and here are a few things you should know about me. I love music, and movies. I really look forward to movies when they hit theaters because I love going out, getting popcorn, seeing the movie on a big screen, hearing and seeing how people react to the film, and so on, that experience can make a shitty movie great in my opinion.
So, probably over a year ago, I was at the movies and saw a preview (another thing I love at the theaters) for this movie “Trick R’ Treat” and it looked awesome, just the kind of movie I would rush to the theaters to see on opening weekend. Fast forward to a present day… I find out that this movie is not going to be released in theaters!!!! I’m not too sure why, I have heard their were troubles with release due to studios, and such but, apparently the powers that be decided that the film was not worthy of a theatrical release and is going straight to DVD this October.
The trailer for this film looks incredible, and the reviews I have seen have all been positive. One review even said “it should be ranked with the original Halloween” . I am pretty outraged at the decision, myself. October is coming up and this would be the perfect movie for a Halloween release. Here is the plot summary and trailers for the film.
It is said that Halloween is the night when the dead rise to walk among us and other unspeakable things roam free. The rituals of All Hallows Eve were devised to protect us from their evil mischief, and one small town is about to be taught a terrifying lesson that some traditions are best not forgotten. Nothing is what it seems when a suburban couple learns the dangers of blowing out a Jack-o-Lantern before midnight; four women cross paths with a costumed stalker at a local festival; a group of pranksters goes too far and discovers the horrifying truth buried in a local legend; and a cantankerous old hermit is visited by a strange trick-or-treater with a few bones to pick. Costumes and candy, ghouls and goblins, monsters and mayhem… the tricks and treats of Halloween turn deadly as strange creatures of every variety-human and otherwise-try to survive the scariest night of the year.

Hello Zombies, my name is Josh Browning and Jason has asked me if I would like to write for Zombie Popcorn, so after we talked over some fresh brains, I accepted! I have a great love for horror movies and would love to share some of my thoughts and opinions with you all, so on to my first Blog!
I haven’t seen Halloween 2 yet but,
With Halloween 2 hitting the theaters this weekend (and TOTALLY getting smashed by Final Destination for some reason) it got me thinking about the fans who are seeing it. Some of them are really digging Rob Zombie’s style and take on the franchise. Then on the other hand, there are the hardcore Halloween fans – like myself – who think that the original is a piece of horror art, and think Zombie may have went overboard into his whit-trash, fowl mouth, world to re-vamp the series. But, is what Rob Zombie doing really as blasphemous as we “Classic” fans are making it out to be?
You kind of have to put yourself in a new Halloween fan’s shoes for a minute, and look at it from a TOTALLY different perspective. I saw the original when I was maybe 6 or 7, and many times more since then. So it has burned a spot in my head as being untouchable. The same goes with Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and so on. But, there are many I didn’t see when I was younger as well (The Exorcist, The Amityville Horror, Last House on the Left, ect.) and I have now seen them in my older age and didn’t think that highly of them. Now, since they have been re-vamped, re-made, re-imagined, whatever re- you prefer, I like the modernized versions. The cleaner look, the actor or actress you have seen before, the better special effects.
So with that being said, you have to look at things from a new perspective: What if you had never seen Halloween in 1985 or 1978 even? What would you think of Halloween if Rob Zombie’s version was the first you had seen? The same could be said for Friday the 13th, and for the coming-soon Nightmare on Elm Street. Personally, I was disgusted with Zombie’s Halloween when I saw it, but now I have seen it a few more times, and realized what is important about it. If Zombie hadn’t given Halloween this new imagining, who would care about it? The last 4 sequels were 10 times worse than anything Zombie did, and the younger fans these days are looking for exactly what Zombie is about – blood, gore, sex, violence, comedy. If a 15-year-old watched the original Halloween now-a-days he (or she) would probably turn it off 15 minutes in, and go find something on You Tube to watch. But, Rob Zombie (who I’m sure if you asked, would say that the original is sacred) decided to bring new life to a classic character so the new generation of horror fans would know who Michael Myers is and have the same kind of respect we, the classic fans, have for him.
So in closing, let me ask you, the readers, this: Would you rather hold on to something you love so much and let it die off after 5 TERRIBLE sequels, or let a someone breathe new life into it, so the next generation of fans can keep Michael Myers alive, who know maybe another 25 years? I know I hope to still see horror fans flocking to the theaters when I’m 50, once a horror fan always a horror fan, and if we want horror to go on we have to embrace that re-makes help this genre move into the future. If the kids don’t want to see it, then it won’t go on. So , if the kids want to see Halloween with more blood, gore, sex, back story, rednecks, Weird Al Yankovick, or I hear that they may do a third sequel in 3D, I say go for it! Because none of that is worse than having Busta Rhymes and Tyra Banks in a Halloween movie. TOTALLY!!!!

It is now August and Halloween is appoarching. I know, Halloween is not until two months from now, but according to the store shelves it is time to get ready for this wonderful holiday.
So what better way to celebrate than to head over to Japan and visit Fuji-Q Highland theme park.
Here is a commercial for the park.
This park looks amazing not only does it offer huge rollercoasters but, it has its own horror section. Including the GeGeGe no Kitaro Haunted House. According to its website, well, what I could make out from the website, it is a 3D movie attraction. Fuji-Q horror section also offers the House of Executions and the Labyrinth of Horrors aka Shock Labyrinth.
The Labyrinth of Horrors holds the Guinness World Record for “The longest horror-house walk through”.
Check out the training videos for the horror park. (If English is your only language, you can still watch the video and understand – you can start at 0:28, on the first video.)
[Japan's 3D horror film after the videos]
On the horror movie and 3D front, Takashi Shimizu is returning to Japanese horror and is doing a 3D horror flick called, The Shock Labyrinth (Senritsu Meikyu 3D). The Shock Labyrinth is going to be an original screenplay by Daisuke Hosaka but the concept is based an attraction at the Fuji-Q High Land. The film is shot on location at the theme park. Did I mention that this film is going to be IN 3D?!
The film is expected to be released in Japan in October 2009, just in time for Halloween. **any of my readers from Japan want to send me a copy of this movie when it available please let me know**
Here is a blurb about the film;
One rainy night, Yuki, a girl missing for 10 years, suddenly comes back. Her friends Ken, Hajime, Rin, and sister Miyu feel a bit of confusion with the sudden return, but they welcome her. Later that night, Yuki suddenly faints and they try to take her to a hospital. But the hospital they arrive turns out to be a decayed and very mystical place… like a labyrinth.
For those who don’t know who Takashi Shimizu is – he is the one who wrote and directed the The Grudge and The Grudge 2.
So, if you can’t make it to Japan to check out this awesome theme park, then you must pick up the First ever Japan 3D horror film, The Shock Labyrinth 3D.

I am always talking about horror films or at least 3D films. I love watching movies, I could watch them all the time – but I don’t.
So what do I do when I can’t get my horror movie fix?
I read.
Ok, normally, I don’t read horror books – I mean don’t get me wrong – I still remember when I read ‘The Hellbound Heart’ by Clive Barker back in ’89. But the books I normally read, were books like, “Power and Struggle (Politics of Nonviolent Action)” by Gene Sharp. – I should add, that if you want to include the ‘underground’ comics I collected as a kid then I could say I read a ton of horror books. Dead World was one of my fav. comics – outside of all the Clive Barker comics.
Anyway, the point is my horror movie obsession and my books never saw eye-to-eye. So to pay tribute to all the great horror writers out there (they did write the story to all the great films we watch) I am going to make July Horror Book Month.
So here is my reading list for the month of July. If you want to read along and share your thoughts. I have included links where you can pick up your copy.
I am starting off with,
Originally written for the pulp magazines of the 1920s and 1930s, H. P. Lovecraft’s astonishing tales blend elements of horror, science fiction, and cosmic terror that are as powerful today as they were when they were first published. This tome brings together all of Lovecraft’s harrowing stories, including the complete Cthulhu Mythos cycle, just the way they were first released. It will introduce a whole new generation of readers to Lovecraft’s fiction, as well as attract those fans who want all his work in a single, definitive volume.

When there’s no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth… And law enforcement is ready to take them down! Employing hard science and solid police work not—to mention jaw-dropping (literally!) humor—Zombie CSU is the only guide you need to make it through alive—not undead. At last you can:

“The Crisis” nearly wiped out humanity. Brooks (son of Mel Brooks and author of The Zombie Survival Guide, 2003) has taken it upon himself to document the “first hand” experiences and testimonies of those lucky to survive 10 years after the fictitious zombie war. Like a horror fan’s version of Studs Terkel’s The Good War (1984), the “historical account” format gives Brooks room to explore the zombie plague from numerous different views and characters. In a deadpan voice, Brooks exhaustively details zombie incidents from isolated attacks to full-scale military combat: “what if the enemy can’t be shocked and awed? Not just won’t, but biologically can’t!” With the exception of a weak BAT-21 story in the second act, the “interviews” and personal accounts capture the universal fear of the collapse of society–a living nightmare in which anyone can become a mindless, insatiable predator at a moment’s notice. Alas, Brad Pitt’s production company has purchased the film rights to the book–while it does have a chronological element, it’s more similar to a collection of short stories: it would make for an excellent 24-style TV series or an animated serial. Regardless, horror fans won’t be disappointed: like George Romero’s Dead trilogy, World War Z is another milestone in the zombie mythos.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies — “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.” So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton—and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she’s soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers—and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield as Elizabeth wages war against hordes of flesh-eating undead. Can she vanquish the spawn of Satan? And overcome the social prejudices of the class-conscious landed gentry? Complete with romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, and thousands of rotting corpses, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies transforms a masterpiece of world literature into something you’d actually want to read.

If you been watching or reading the news you have heard that David Carradine has died. He was found dead in a Bangkok hotel. I think most of us, well people my age and older, grew up watching David Carradine on TV or in movies. My first memories of David was from the movie Death Race 2000- by far one of my best childhood films – and from TV when he played Kwai Chang Caine in the series Kung Fu.
So to pay respect to someone I grew up with (and never knew) I want to share some of the clips from films and TV shows that I remember watching as a kid and later in my life.
So to start off, the classic Kung Fu battle between David Carradine and Rick Springfield.

Some people think that Rock n Roll and horror films go hand and hand but sometimes I think people take that thought a little too far.
Here is my Top 6 List of Rock n Roll Horror films that went too far.
Rock n Roll Frankenstein
A music agent, his necrophiliac nephew and a burnt-out roadie with a knack for grave-robbing team to create a superstar from some of the greatest rockers who ever lived: Elvis, Morrison, Hendrix, Vicious. But things go bad when Liberace’s love tool mistakenly ends up in the mix.
Turbulence 3: Heavy Metal
Heavy metal singer Slade Craven is scheduled to perform his farewell concert on a Boeing 747, TransCon Airlines flight 619, which will be flying from Los Angeles to Toronto, and the concert is scheduled to be broadcast over the Internet. It has been said that the FAA has received threats that they had better allow this concert to take place. Erica Black is a reporter who is on the airplane with her cameraman Ethan, covering the concert. For the past two years, FBI agent Kate Hayden has been after hacker Nick Watts, who has gained access to the live broadcast of the concert. When Kate arrives at Nick’s home, Kate and Nick see something that they never thought was supposed to be part of the broadcast Craven kills the pilot and takes the airplane hostage.
Hard Rock Zombies
A hard rock band travels to the tiny and remote town of Grand Guignol to perform. Peopled by hicks, rubes, werewolves, murderous dwarves, sex perverts, and Hitler, the town is a strange place but that doesn’t stop the band’s lead singer from falling in love with a local girl named Cassie. After Nazi sex perverts kill the band to satisfy their lusts, Cassie calls the rockers back from the grave to save her, the town, and maybe the world.
Trick or Treat staring Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osbourne.
Hard rock idol Sammi Curr burns to death in a hotel fire. His biggest fan, Lakeridge High School student and resident metal head Eddie Weinbauer is devastated by the news and turns to local radio DJ “Nuke” (Gene Simmons) for emotional support. After a heated discussion about the deceased rock star, Nuke presents Eddie with a rare demo record, the last ever recorded by Sammi and the only copy in existence. Overwhelmed by Nuke’s generosity, Eddie accepts the gift without hesitation, unaware of it’s dark role in things to come.
Rock n Roll Nightmare
At an old farmhouse, a family mysteriously dissapears at the hands of evil. Years later, hair metal band The Tritons comes to the farmhouse, whose barn now features a 24-track recording studio. Lead singer John Triton gets the band to perform their first night in the farmhouse after dinner, and weird little beasties suddenly appear, and strange things start to happen. Band members (and their tag along girlfriends) begin to act strangely and vanish one by one. Soon, only John Triton remains, and he holds a secret. Finally, the evil shows itself and a battle between heaven and hell ensues

I went to see the new Terminator movie this past weekend with a friend and I have to say it was action packed but I wasn’t impressed. I walked out of the theater feeling like something wasn’t complete, like the film was missing something. No, I am not talking about Arnold. It missed something with the storyline, it seemed.
I spent most of the time watching the film asking myself, ‘Who is that little girl?” “Why did they even write her into the story?” She didn’t seem to have a purpose in the film other than being someone to yell at, “RUN” Then I started thinking of the Mad Max films and remembered that there was a little kid that didn’t talk in Road Warrior -but it the kid in that film seemed to have a purpose. It makes my head hurt when I try to figure out why this kid was in the new Terminator movie.. oh well, enough of that.
On other movie news, I picked up the movie ‘Dead Meat’ and it looks like it is going to be so bad and I can’t wait to watch it.
Here is the story plot,
The tourist Helena and her mate Martin are traveling by car through the County of Leitrim, Ireland, when Martin hits a man. He brings the body to his car, and the corpse returns to live and bites him. Helena looks for help in a cottage and is attacked inclusive by Martin. Sooner she realizes that the place is infested of zombies. She meets the gravedigger Desmond and they cross the countryside trying to find a safe place. They meet another couple and they become aware that the mad cow disease has infected humans transforming them in living dead
After reading that I am sure this film will be fun — so here is the trailer

Ok, so no one is trying to kill vegans. Thank goodness we are all safe. But if you look at the history of horror/sci-fi films, it would seem that the vegetation are cooking up a recipe of revenge.
So here is a, far from complete, list of films that involve killer trees, attacking vegetables, and highly venomous fictional plant species.
The Day of the Triffids
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
The Ruins
Little Shop of Horrors
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
Attack of the Mushroom People
Children of the Corn
Killer Bean Forever
The Gardener
Killer Spores was the title before it was re-edited and made of TV. Before it was re-edited the plot was a space capsule returns to Earth contaminated by extraterrestrial substance which takes over control of humans.
Sadly, they re-edited the film for TV and gave it a new title – ‘Man From Atlantis‘
Man-Eater of Hydra aka Island of the doomed – no trailer available but you can buy it here
Please don’t eat my mother!
Plot: A middle-aged man buys a plant with a sexy voice that develops a craving for insects, frogs, dogs, humans..
Soylent Green
The Woman Eater
X The Unknown

People are always asking me, “What is your favorite horror film?” So, I decided to make this list of my top 13 horror flicks, with trailers and 3D footage included.
It is so hard to narrow down the best horror flicks because I like films for a variety of reasons. For example, I like Wizard of Gore (both the original and the re-make) as much as I like Creature from the Black Lagoon, but for completely different reasons.
So here is my list, in random order… and you will need 3D glasses for some of the videos.
I want to start off with House of Wax (1953) starring Vincent Price because if you read the post ‘What do vegetarian Zombies eat?‘ you would know how my 3D path got started. If you haven’t read it, in short, it was one of my very first 3D films to see.
The second film has to be The Mask (1961) – This film is on the list as House of Wax – it was a double feature of 3D awesome-ness.
Friday the 13th is next because I am including the first three films. Part 3 is only listed because it was in 3D and it is the film where Jason gets his mask.
Tourist Trap was a film that scare me to death when I was a child, you can read about that in the post, ‘A Childhood Horror‘. Chuck Connors was a very creepy man in this film.
Return of the Living Dead 1 and 2 – are in my list of all time favorite zombie films. (Watch your tongue, boy, if you like this job!)
Dead Alive - If you have not seen this movie yet, you need to go buy it, go download it, just find a way to get your hands on this movie and watch it – you will not be disappointed.
Fright Night – When I was in middle school we used to have Fright Night parties.
The Omen
Halloween – I think this film is in everyone’s list and with good reason.
My Bloody Valentine – The original, but don’t get me wrong My Bloody Valentine was pretty awesome too.
Hellraiser – If you search for “Clive Barker‘ on my blog, you will find how much I like Clive Barker and Hellraiser was the film that opened my eyes to his work — Yeah, I know Rawhead Rex and a couple of other films were first but I found them later.
Witchfinders General – Yes, another Vincent Price film and when you watch it, you will also add this film your your top list. If you want to watch this film, you can here on Psychosomatic Rants. – watch it now!
The Wicker Man (1973) I just really enjoy this film and after traveling to Scotland and having the locals reference this film as they tell us to beware of parts of Scotland -totally makes this movie in my top list.
So this is my 13 list of horror films. I would love to know what horror films are your favorite, so let me know in the comments below.
I also added an amazon slide show below so if you want to grab any of these movies you can… so enjoy!

This morning I woke up early just to enjoy the morning before going to work. I popped over to Marketsaw (the best 3D news website ever!) just to see what was new and as always, Jim (creator of Marketsaw) made me fall out of my chair with awesome news when he posted this blurb,
Take for example the German electromusic pioneers KRAFTWERK performing in Wolfsburg, Germany on April 26, 2009. The band integrated 3D graphics behind them on four huge video walls and the audience really engaged it.
What? Did he just say Kraftwerk integrated 3D graphics behind them during a concert?! Yes! with 3D glasses included.
Almost every weekend my friend from the ambient band, Frore (you should add him as your MySpace friend) end up talking about Kraftwerk and I think we even mentioned how awesome it would be if they did something in 3D.
This band is known for their awesome stage videos and now that they crossed over into the 3D realm, it is going to be over the top! Check out this photo taken at the 3D show by Simon Zirkunow.
If you are not familiar with Kraftwerk here are a couple of live videos –
this video is from the 3D performance ..

I can’t help but be excited! – All the 3D movies that are coming out – I am just jumping up and down with joy! All my favorite movies when I was a child are now coming out in 3D. My Bloody Valentine was re-made in 3D, Dawn of the Dead is going to be re-released in 3D, and so many more.
There is one movie that I loved to watch that wasn’t a horror movie, I still watch it about twice a year – that movie is TRON.
Coming in 2010, TRON 2 or TR2N will be released and it will be in 3D. There is a ‘bootleg’ trailer floating around youtube and the net -but the quality is not that good so I will wait for a better trailer before I post one to this site. I can say that TR2N looks awesome!
There is not much out about the film yet, but what we do know is that Daft Punk is going to write the soundtrack and Bruce Boxleitner along with Jeff Bridges are returning to TRON. Bridges will be playing the role of Kevin Flynn.
Ok, so I lied – here is the bootleg teaser for TR2N

The last couple of months I have teamed up with a friend to add vocals to the music he has written and edit videos for the songs. We wanted to create a song that reflected our love for horror, B-movies and cult classics. I think we pulled it off pretty well, it is in the final stages of editing. So, we started to work on the video aspect of it and it has been so much fun to create this video.
The other day we began filming a very dark segment of the video that involved fog machines. Before I go on, let me say – I have used my fog machines 100 times and never had a problem. Anyway, we set up the shot and began filming – everything was going great. Until my friend decided to go outside…
As he walked down the stairs a very loud alarm penetrated the air. It was the fire alarm. It wouldn’t have been such a problem but I live in an apartment building. Long story short, after everyone came back inside from evacuating the apartment complex and the fire trucks drove away – I realized we got some really awesome footage for the video.
Here is a sneak peak / screen grab from the video edit….

Sam Raimi is returning to his horror roots. You may know of his work as the director of the Spider-man trilogy and The Evil Dead Series. Raimi has written and is directing a new film entitled, Drag Me to Hell.
It looks like it is going to be one, if not the top horror movie for 2009. It will hit theaters May 29.
Here is the story plot;
A loan officer (Lohman) ordered to evict an old woman from her home finds herself the recipient of a supernatural curse, who turns her life into a living hell. Desperate, she turns to a seer to try and save her soul, while evil forces work to push her to a breaking point.
and now the trailer

You may remember a while back I posted the first photos to Rob Zombie’s upcoming film, Halloween 2.
When the first photos were released, I was and still am, excited about the possible gore fest Rob Zombie is going to create for us in his new film. With all the excitement and anticipation to see the film, nothing could have prepared me for this…..
Rob Zombie casts Weird Al Yankovic! Here is a quote from Rob’s Myspace page;
“Weird Al rolls into Haddonfield as well Weird Al a guest of THE NEWMAN HOUR – a local talk show. The other guest that night is Dr. Loomis hawking his new book THE DEVIL WALKS AMONG US… let’s just say things get weird.”

What a crazy couple of days. As you know, if you have been reading lately - I lost my laptop, well it died. (If you have any need for a Sony VAIO VGN-AR230, let me know.) I thought I was lucky because I only lost a couple of photos and a video project that I was working on – no big deal right? Wrong. My new computer came in yesterday, I love it and after installing all my programs and tweaking it, I decided to hook up my 2 tb hard drive – where I back up all my photos, videos, music, everything – only to find out that the hard drive is not working. So, all my photos and videos from ALL of my tours, trips, friends, food, and whatever else is GONE!
I said to myself was, ‘Well, I needed to clean up that hard drive anyway.” I was sadden a little because I lost so much documentation of the past. Then I started thinking of all the new videos, photos and stories I will have in the future. The thought of starting over, new photos, new videos, and new adventures with a new computer sounds good to me. True, it is sad that I lost all of those material memories but I have been given the opportunity to realize what those meant to me and create something new and more meaningful than to just let them collect digital dust on a store device.
So here is my new computer and my new outlook on the digital life…..

stay tuned, new video in the works now..

When I was much much younger than I am today – I had 4th row, center seats, to my very first arena concert which was Iron Madien’s Seventh Son of the Seventh Son Tour in 1988. I was a huge Iron Madien fan at the age of 13.
The years have gone by and I don’t listen to Iron Madien as much as I did back then in fact, I can’t remember when the last time I listen to them. So, it was no suprise to me to see that Iron Madien’s front man, Bruce Dickinson co-wrote a film with director Julian Doyle, who directed Maiden’s 1988 video “Can I Play With Madness?” (side note: Julian Doyle also edited Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life, Life of Brian and Time Bandits.)
The film that Bruce and Julian created is entitled, Crowley. (Also known as, Chemical Madness in other parts of the world.) Here is a blurb.
He was known as ” The Wickedest Man in the World” or simply ‘The Beast’. More than 60 years after his death, the demonic life and works of British occultist Aleister Crowley has continued to capture our darkest imaginations. In this provocative supernatural thriller co -written by legendary Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson, a virtual reality experiment gone wrong sends the soul of the infamous madman into the body of a shy university professor. But even as Crowly creates all – new orgies of depraved pleasures and black magic, is he now preparing to unleash the ultimate occult event upon the world?

The last couple of days have been a little rough. My computer has died on me – needs a new motherboard – YAY! Mylie T is so nice because she is letting me use hers so I can write this post.
I am not going to rant about how it sucks to not have a computer because I want to tell you about a new project I have been trying to talk Mylie T into and thinking of ways to mount cameras.
Don’t be dirty minded, I am talking about getting a People’s Liberation Army (PLA) motorcycle/sidecar. Just the thought of driving through the mountains with Mylie T in the sidecar is awesome. The photo to the right is a Cj750, the third generation version of the 1938 BMW R71.
I have found a place where you can purchase these bikes from Beijing. The funny thing is that I am not into cars, bikes, boats, etc at all. I have never looked at a vehicle and got excited about it or thought that is a cool machine. Now, if it was a computer or some kind of 3D movie, camera, or anything related to 3D – I would be super excited, but this is just a motorcycle with a sidecar. I don’t understand why I am excited about getting this PLA bike. Was it the history of how this bike became to be known as the Cj750? No, as interesting as the bike’s history is – it plays no part in my new found obsession with it. It might be the thought that I can hook up my 3D video and my HD camera to the side car and make travel videos or the thought that on a nice weekend when Mylie and I are wondering what we are going to do – we could just jump on the bike and head to the mountains or some random back road that we normally wouldn’t travel. Whatever the reason, I am totally excited about the Cj750.
Check out this video of Beijing bikers and their trip to Qinghai Lake (Green Lake) – the largest in-land salt water lake in China.

Welcome to one of the happiest moments of my life. I will just say it in full now, RE-ANIMATOR 3D!
Yes, One of my all time favorite movies is getting a make over in 3D.
Here are the details;
Producer Ray Haboush is developing a 3D remake of Stuart Gordon’s 1985 horror/sci-fi/black comedy cult classic “Re-Animator”
Brian Yuzna, producer of the original film and director of its sequels, will develop the project along with Haboush for his Automatic Media and Halcyon International Pictures companies.
Based on a story by legendary horror author H.P. Lovecraft, the acclaimed original follows Dr. Herbert West (Jeffrey Combs), a doctor expelled from a Swiss institute who moves to New England to continue his experiments to perfect a formula to revive the dead.
No word as yet if Combs would return to reprise his role or cameo.
Here is the original trailer…

Rob Zombie posted on his Myspace page the first photo from his upcoming film, Halloween 2. I enjoyed his first take on Halloween – I know everyone is saying, “its not anything like the orignial Halloween!’ – but who really cares? The bottom line it is either a good film or it is not and I thought it was a good film and I look forward to his second stab at Halloween.
Enough of my rantings here is the first photo….
Rob Zombie had this to say, “Well, we made it through the first three days. Everything is going great. This film is going to blow away my last trip to Haddonfield. Ultra gritty, ultra intense, and very real. Here is a sneak peek of Laurie moments after being wheeled into the ER.”

Here is the new Halloween 2 teaser poster…

I just finished watching yet another series the good ol U.S. fo A. misses out on. The Tv series is called ‘Dead Set‘ and I have to say it was really amazing – it was great!
When I first heard about it I thought to myself, ‘Oh great, another made for TV series about zombies – don’t expect it to be worth anything.’ As always the fine folks over in the United Kingdom prove me wrong again.
If you live in the UK or have a non-region DVD player I would recommend picking the box set up you will enjoy this one.
so here is the plot and the trailer;
It’s eviction night at the Big Brother house, but something very strange is happening; the dead are coming alive and attacking the living. When zombies attack all of the audience outside, the Big Brother contestants are unaware of the death outside the fan-proof (and zombie-proof) big brother house until the show’s runner, Kelly, comes into the house and warns them of the doom outside. Stuck with even less contact with the outside world, the house-mates must sneak out of the house to get supplies, without being seen by the zombies.

I love watching movies and I think I may have enjoyed movies more when I was a child because I remember them and the effect they had on me. I remember being scared. Thinking back to those movies now still gives me that feeling of uneasiness, even if I haven’t seen those movies since the first time I watched them.
It is funny how we hold on to those feelings. There was a movie I watched only a couple of times when I was a child and I remember it seemed to scared me to death. I still to this day think back to the images of that movie and it sends shivers down my spine. The funny thing is I don’t remember what movie it was or the plot to the movie. All I remember was it had Chuck Connors in it — yes, the Rifleman! I have found myself looking back and thinking I need to track down this film and find out what it was so I can watch it again but I have never took the time to find the film. I guess I am a little afraid that I won’t have the same feelings for the movie and ruin all these wonderful childhood fears that it created for me.
For whatever reason, I just never took the time to track it down – until tonight. I am happy to say I found this long lost movie of my past and the moment I found it – I remembered a thousand more details about the movie – I am so excited to have found this movie and I feel a little silly because it is a total classic horror flick and it wasn’t in my collection – until now.
The film is called Tourist Trap and here is the trailer;
[amazon-product]1573471046[/amazon-product]
I love this film – still! I think it is Chuck Connors best film!!
So since I am re-living my past love for movies – I want to share with you a couple other films that I have strong memories from my childhood.
Black Roses was a film that I enjoined only because — well, just check out the trailer …. ( I love how they show you the entire movie in the trailer)
[amazon-product]B000SSONUC[/amazon-product]
Once you finish laughing, the next film ranked up there for me as the original My Bloody Valentine movie. (meaning it is awesome!)
[amazon-product]B0002VYOVS[/amazon-product]
That was just a sample of my childhood movies so if you can’t find anything to watch, the movies listed above will solve those problems and you won’t be disappointed – I guarantee it!
(Disclaimer: Zombie-Popcorn.com, Psychosomatic Rants or its affiliates does not guarantee your enjoyment of the films listed in this post.)

As you know, if you read the post ‘Paraskavedekatriaphobia‘ - Myle T and I spent the Friday 13th and Valentine’s Day in the mountains. We had a great time and if you ever been to the Blue Ridge Mountains you know you can experience some of the strangest things in this world.
So, here is a short video of one of the interviews we did while in the mountains — enjoy……

No, I am not just making up words — paraskavedekatriaphobia is the fear of Friday the 13th.
I have not wished Psychosomatic Rants readers happy friday the 13th since June of 2008! So once again – HAPPY FRIDAY the 13th!!
I hope everyone is going out tonight to see the new Friday the 13th movie – I am going with Mylie T, of course – then we are driving to the mountains to go camping for the weekend… what a wonderful movie to see before going into the woods!! She thinks we are going because of Valentines Day but it is really to celebrate Friday the 13th.
If you haven’t seen the trailer for the new Friday the 13th movie – check it out here…
I expect it to be really good — I will keep you posted on it after I see it. If you don’t want to go out on this wonderful night make sure you buy the Friday the 13th part 3 in 3D DVD and watch it at home. I personally think it has the best 3D effects for any 3D movie that came out in the 80′s. (and you can’t go wrong for $10!)
[amazon-product alink="0000FF" bordercolor="000000" height="240"]B001K9OXEE[/amazon-product]
It is also a special time because the day following Friday the 13th is Saturday the 14th!!! — for those who don’t know of this importance – let me bring you up to speed…

[amazon-product]B000058TIE[/amazon-product]
This is one of the movies I grew up with and think about it every Saturday the 14th. If you have not seen it, you must check it out you will, I mean, you won’t be disappointed.
But, I know this Saturday the 14th is special for other people because it is Valentine’s Day! It really is a special day, especially, since it follows one of the best days in our calendar and you now have the option to see two awesome films, Friday the 13th, as mentioned above, and My Bloody Valentine 3D. How perfect can this weekend be? You take your lover to a scary movie on Friday the 13th then the next night for your romantic Valentine’s Day movie you take her to see a 3D Valentine movie. If your partner says, “My Bloody Valentine? That sounds like another horror flick.” Just reply, “No, I think it is a British film”, leaving them to think you are going to see a foreign flick.
It is extra special for me and Mylie because the original My Bloody Valentine film was one of my favorite films when I was a child.
If you have not seen it, the original, you are in luck because it was just released on DVD…
[amazon-product]B001JFZ122[/amazon-product]
So no matter what you are planning to do for Friday the 13th, Saturday the 14th, or Valentine’s Day – I hope you have an awesome time!
Here is a movie for you to watch – another perfect Friday the 13th midnight movie!

I love old movies and I am always on the look out for an awesome and rare film. My collection has got to the point where it has become a task just to keep updating my list – but I work on it daily.
Next to horror films, 3D films and horror 3D films, I really love propaganda films, the older the better. In my collection I have a huge range of these films from the Christian scare films to the sex hygiene scare films to the consumer product propaganda films. I could watch them all day, but what I really love is when I get a film that I can compare it to the other side of the ‘truth’.
For example, This film called, “This is Hormel.”
As you saw in the film above they invited the viewer to tour their factories and lucky for us someone did — with their own camera….see the video below.

The last time I went to the dentist I had to get my wisdom teeth out – it was roughly two years ago.
As I was sitting in the chair the dentist and a female assistant came into the room. They began prepping me for the teeth extractions. I was not going to be put under so the just put the mask on my face to give me the ‘laughing gas’. The next thing I remember is opening my eyes to a room full of nurses, my legs were pushed up to my chest, I had a pulse monitor thing on my finger and the dentist was in my face yelling my name.
I wasn’t sure what happened but after the surgery the dentist said to me, “If anyone wants to give you the gas, tell them you don’t respond well to it.”
Funny thing I never received a bill for that operation.
But I really wished my dentist visit turned out like the kid in the video below — enjoy ( thanks to the dad, who filmed their kid during this awesome moment!)

There are moments in your life that define the type of person you are – good or bad, you can not escape these moments. Tonight was one of those moments for me. I realized that I have never watched or had the Super Bowl playing on a TV that I owned or in a house/apartment that I lived in – ever!
All of this changed tonight, I had the football game on my screen – even though it was muted – it was displayed in my house. So, what made me have the change of heart?
The promise of a 3D preview of the upcoming movie Monsters vs Aliens.
So, I sat in front of the game, folding my clothes – what? I did laundry — anyway, I sat there eating a wonderful chili bean dip that Mylie T made counting down with the Super Bowl clock waiting for half time to arrive. Then I started the 10 second count down and wouldnt you know it – one of the teams intercepted a pass and ran the full field to score a touchdown – they said it was the longest intercepted run in Super Bowl history. Knowing nothing about football, but thinking that was pretty awesome – I was becoming impatient because this history making event for football delayed the 3D viewing. Replay after replay, we sat watching it over and over and listening to the annoucers say, “I think he landed on his leg,” “This is the biggest play of the game so far!”
Then finally, the moment arrived – the 3D event we (well, at least me) have been waiting for – the 3D trailer of Monsters vs Aliens!
All I can say, is please don’t let this preview turn you off to seeing this movie – the 3D will be 10000 times better than what they did for us during this half time presentation.
So, good luck to the teams – I am turning it off now to watch another movie.
PS – In case you are wondering if this was the first time they did 3D during the half time of a Super Bowl – No, the first time was during Super Bowl XXIII (49res vs Cincinnati Bengals)

It is a very rare moment that I am this excited about a movie that is not in 3D.
When you combine Alexa Vega, Ogre (Skinny Puppy), Paris Hilton, Joan Jett, and Sarah Brightman in a movie and include Daniel Ash and David J (Bauhaus/Love & Rockets) in the soundtrack shared with Richard Patrick (Filter), Steven Perkins (Jane’s Addiction), Clown (Slipknot), Ray Luzier (Army of Anyone), Brian Young (David Lee Roth’s band), Richard Fortus (Guns & Roses), Sonny Moore (First to Last), Blasko (Ozzy Osborne), Tommy Clefetus (Rob Zombie’s band), Melora Creager (Rasputina). Also lending her voice to the soundtrack is the edgy pop star Poe. Japanese musician and composer Yoshiki Haysahi (of the legendary rock band X-Japan) co-produced the music with Joe Bishara.
You get Repo! The Genetic Opera.
In the year 2056 – the not so distant future – an epidemic of organ failures devastates the planet. Out of the tragedy, a savior emerges: GeneCo, a biotech company that offers organ transplants… for a price. Those who miss their payments are scheduled for repossession and hunted by villainous Repo Men. In a world where surgery addicts are hooked on painkilling drugs and murder is sanctioned by law, a sheltered young girl searches for the cure to her own rare disease as well as information about her family’s mysterious history. After being sucked into the haunting world of GeneCo, she is unable to turn back, as all of her questions will be answered at the wildly anticipated spectacular event: The Genetic Opera.

Every morning when I wake up, I always have a song in my head, its like my own personal clock radio alarm. This morning was a little different because it was the first time I had two songs playing in my head at once – maybe one song was for me and the other song was for Mylie. The songs that alternated in my head were Creedence Clearwater Revival’s ‘Who’ll Stop the Rain’ and Johnny Nash’s ‘I Can See Clearly Now.’ The songs were not the full score like usual, it started with the line from CCR, ‘And I wonder, still I wonder, who’ll stop the rain’ then switch to Johnny Nash’s ‘It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright) Sun-Shiny day.’
So, at 7:00 AM, I am sitting here looking out the window thinking of the things I packed and trying to remember if I forgotten anything. The thought of a seven hour fight makes me wonder what I should bring to keep me from losing my mind sitting in one spot for so long. Sure, I drove across country 1000 times and done my share of 16 hours non-stop drives, only stopping to get gas and for restroom breaks. So, a seven hour fight should not be that bad right? To make sure I dont ‘go crazy’ during the fight, I loaded my Archos AV 700 up with over 14,000 songs and added four movies to the Archos. The movies are, in case you are wondering, ‘An American Werewolf in London’, ‘Pale Rider’, ’28 Weeks Later’ and ‘Witchfinder General’. Yes, I have a duplex headphone adapter so Mylie can watch movies with me. In fact, she saw me writing this blog post and said, “You need to add ‘The Nightmare before Christmas’ to the Archos movie list.” – It has been added.
We still have a lot to do before catching our flight and the day just got a little better, in the mail was my free Dr. Pepper coupon – next stop Edinburgh!!

Tomorrow is the day that I will fly to Scotland. I don’t know if I will find the time to post everyday while over there but I will do my best. My plans are to post a daily record of everything we did for that day leading up to the wedding at Duffus Castle, x-mas in Glasgow and the world’s largest Hogmanay celebration in Edinburgh.
So, in the meantime here is 1984, the movie so you can kill some time until the next post.

Nightmares in Red White and Blue – The Evolution of American Horror Film is a new documentary that just finished up production. It looks amazing and I am not just saying that because a friend composed the original music to the film.
Click on ‘Preview’ below to watch the trailer/teaser – or visit their site.
Here is more about the film. (blurb taken from http://nightmaresinredwhiteandblue.com/)
Nightmares in Red, White and Blue: The Evolution of the American Horror Film is a feature-length documentary based on the book of the same name by Joseph Maddrey. It examines the idea that horror films reflect the times and places in which they are made – illustrating how classic monster movies exploited the anxieties of war-time generations, and how more savage modern horror films stem from the psychic fallout of America’s counterculture movement and the subsequent rise of increasingly conservative political forces.
At the same time, the documentary explores the timeless, universal appeal of horror movies by examining the pervasive theme of The Outsider. From the silent films of Lon Chaney to the box office reign of Hannibal Lector and his peers, the history of the horror film is a story of the individual at odds with any organization that threatens his life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. In-depth interviews with many of the nation’s greatest horror filmmakers reveal that the appeal of the genre is rooted not only in timely fears but in the spirit of rebellion – a spirit that consistently defines American life, as well as many of its best horror filmmakers.
Nightmares in Red, White and Blue is narrated by horror genre icon Lance Henriksen, and features exclusive interviews with legendary auteurs like John Carpenter, George A. Romero, Joe Dante, Larry Cohen, and Roger Corman, as well as film historian John Kenneth Muir and Fangoria editor Tony Timpone. Their observations are illustrated with clips from more than 100 films – ranging from the classic Universal monster movies to the psychological horrors of film noir, from groundbreaking films like “Night of the Living Dead,” “Rosemary’s Baby,” The Exorcist” and “Jaws” to contemporary slasher movies, Torture Porn, and beyond. In short, it is the most comprehensive documentary on America’s most durable and prolific film genre.

I was thinking today that I may not be around to write a x-mas post because I will still be in Scotland. So, in the theme of x-mas I am writing it now, just in case I can’t find the time or I have had too much whiskey on x-mas day.
Here is a film called, ‘Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny.’ It has to be one of the strangest children movie I have in my collection.

Plot:
Poor Santa Claus.
This live-action feature finds his sleigh stuck in the sand on a Florida beach only days before Christmas Eve. He psychically summons prepubescent aid from a nearby subdivision. In order to extricate Santa’s sleigh, the local children bring many different animals (presumably the sheep was someone’s house pet), but nothing works, and the kids are afraid they won’t get any gifts this year.
To boost their spirits, Santa tells them the story of Thumbelina, and the setting dissolves into a “fantasy within a fantasy”. Thumbelina is a beautiful but very tiny girl, “not much larger than a clothes pin”. She becomes lost in the forest during the winter and finds refuge in the underground home of Mrs. Mole.
A neighbor mole, Mr. Digger, falls in love and wants to marry Thumbelina, but she’s having none of it. When warm weather returns, she runs back into the forest and deserts the two kindly creatures who saved her life, crushing their spirits forever … the end.
As Santa is finishing his story and yes, that is its intended conclusion he and the children hear the wail of a siren. The “Ice Cream Bunny” has arrived in his antique fire engine to save the day!
Enjoy!!
