I am a BIG fan of the series “Dexter” and i wrote a blog about this particular season when it started, stating that it looked like it was going to be a good season, and man I couldn’t have wished for anything better.
In season 4 we saw many new elements in the show, Dexter having to deal with his “dark passenger” while having a family, his sister in complete shock over losing the love of her life, and a new serial killer that Dexter found intriguing as well as a nuisance.
The season begins with Dexter fiending to make a kill, because since getting married and having a child (Dexter’s first and his wife’s third) he has had no time to fulfill his “needs”, this sparks the first in a series of events that lead Dexter into a very sloppy and poorly planned routine. After making his kill, he falls asleep at the wheel of his car (due to lack of sleep because of the new baby) and crashes the car. This is very surprising to the viewer because he is usually very precise and doesn’t make mistakes. He ends up with a slight case of amnesia and can’t remember what he did with the body.
We were also introduced to the “Trinity Killer” played by John Lithgow (who was spectacular!) a twisted serial killer who always kills in 3′s (or so we think?) and he has been doing it for a very long time. When Dexter finds out about him he becomes intrigued and obsessed and thinks there is a lot to learn from him.
These things all lead to one of the best seasons of the series, so many twist and turns. Dexter’s sister takes an interest in finding out about her fathers past, which leads her to things she didn’t want to know (about her dad and Dexter!) she also comes into contact with her lost love (FBI agent Frank Lundy who is in Miami hunting down the Trinity Killer), only to end up in a bloody situation with his death as a result.
There were so many good things about season 4 that I could write about for days, but I don’t have that kind of time. I will say that if you haven’t seen this show you are missing out, there has not been a bad season yet and it leaves you wanting more every time. The season finale was such a jaw dropper, literally my mouth was hanging open for the last 5 minutes of the show, a character that has been around for a long time bites the big one, and it is going to change everything. I can’t wait to see where they go from here. I just hope it doesn’t start going downhill, because honestly I don’t know how they are going to live up to this one.
Be sure to check out Zombie Popcorn Radio every Saturday from 7-9 Eastern time where we will be talking about Dexter and much more. And if you miss it…no worries just catch the re-broadcast on Wednesday all day or download the podcast on iTunes.

Honestly, I have loved dexter since it first aired. But even though the season was so great, I still felt so let down and backstabbed for this seasons ending. I honestly dont think there can be a season 5, it wont be the same.

I had a nightmare about the last 5 minutes of that episode. That finale was incredible and absolutely horrifying.
