This week we start off by defending ourselves (read: atheists) from criticism by Tom Gilson

This week we start off by defending ourselves (read: atheists) from criticism by Tom Gilson (director of strategic processes for Campus Crusade for Christ) and Dow Marmur (rabbi emeritus at Holy Blossom Temple) who claim that atheists, in particular the “New Atheists” engage in fanaticism and lack of rationality.

However, most of our time was spent discussing the new North Carolina position of same-sex marriage. While the proponents of the new legislation claim a biblical basis we discuss what the biblical basis for human sexuality is and what it means for public policy. We mention Origen castrating himself because of his literal understanding of Matthew 19:12, Paul’s complete non-sexuality as demonstrated in the apocryphal Acts of Paul and Thecla, and Christians’ adherence to Leviticus 18:22 while ignoring other Old Testament laws.

Episode 50! It has been a crazy year and we are glad to have made it this far. This episode was broadcast live and we covered some feedback from our chatroom audience. I want to take a minute to thank all of our viewers for all the wonderful feedback and support we have received over the past year. From the Youtube comments to the iTunes reviews and everything inbetween, we appreciate everything you have to say.

This week we take a swing at the North Carolina pastor who thinks it is appropriate to advocate violence against children who show tendencies toward stereotypical homosexual behaviour. For making comments like “crack that wrist” while making punching and kicking motions, he has been forced to recant, if only in a backhanded manner.

We also cover the fact that Catholics have reinstated the sale of indulgences. An archaic institution which was abandoned more than half a century ago where the church will gladly take donations so as to reduce the amount of time a person’s loved ones need to spend in Purgatory. Interesting fact, the church has not accepted Purgatory as real for some time. This requires us to ask, “then for what purpose are the indulgences sold?” While discussing interesting Catholic concepts we also grasp onto the comment made recently by a priest who said that the Adam and Eve story is a myth. While most of us can see this it puts the Catholics in an interesting theological corner. Without Adam and Eve there is no fall, meaning there is no original sin, meaning there is no need for Jesus’ atoning sacrifice. What do you think?

We also mention, upon closing, this video. We want to get your take on it!

Here we go ladies and gentlemen, this is where it really all begins, After 10 episodes of tooling around the city like a bunch of tools the Natural Ones crew ACTUALLY STARTS THE STORY. This is what we have all been waiting for, the accumulation of so much inner city nonsense, now the Natural Ones group gets to take this show on the road and bring all the nonsense to the greater world. Who knows, maybe they will even save the world instead of just bothering, or damning it. What were the baddies in the deep underneath the city protecting, and how will it destroy everything the party has come to know and love?

Thanks for joining us for this story milestone.

Ho Adventurers!

Be you seeking the mighty tales of the Natural Ones crew? Be ye concerned about the UNNATURAL silence that has befallen those under the N1s banner this previous week? Worry not! For nothing can kill this podcast, like a societal cancer, or a your common graveyard lich, WE WILL NEVER DIE.

Join us as the party digs deeper than god or man ever intended, and unearth secrets and magics that are lost to this paltry dimension. What new and fresh horrors has this horrible world spawned for our party? Undead horrors, monsters with no faces where there should be faces? Its a terrifying experience free for all!

To all our fans who have sat through all our nonsense these past couple weeks, we thank you so much, if we had a genie one of our wishes would be that nothing bad happens to you listeners… unless you stray… THEN ALL THE PAIN. Seriously, we couldn’t have done all this without you, ten story episodes, one holiday episode and a talking head episode, all because of your comments and views that encourage us to keep up this crazyness. So in a lot of a ways… It’s all your fault. As always thanks for listening, and lets hope we can get another ten done, maybe even another thousand.

The real focus of the show is our little game of “name that logical fallacy.”

We begin this show with a bit of irony, because, well who doesn’t love religious inspired comedy? In May, there will be a large protest intended to be at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets, where ultra-orthodox Jewish rabbis have called for a gathering in order to teach the world about the evils of the internet. While there has been some confusion that the protest will happen at, the no longer existent Shea Stadium, the true ironic value is that the call to arms has been posted on the group’s website. That’s right, using the internet, an evil creation, to call out the internet. I guess sometimes you have to fight fire with fire, like this woman holding a sign which is certainly not hand made.

The real focus of the show, however, was our little game of “name that logical fallacy.” Bob found this wonderful site with a helpful infographic to help you name them all (disclaimer: this is not all of them, I just wanted to make a Pokemon reference, isn’t that what the internet is all about). We played this game with this site containing 15 questions for “evolutionists.” We encourage you to check out the site and play the game yourself!

Zombie Popcorn is at it again and this time we have advanced screening tickets to see DARK SHADOWS!

Director Tim Burton brings the cult classic series “Dark Shadows” to the big screen in a gothic comedy featuring an all-star cast, led by Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer and Helena Bonham Carter.

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet—or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy…until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.

Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles.

Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth’s ne’er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloë Grace Moretz); and Roger’s precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis, played by Jackie Earle Haley, and David’s new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.

Burton is directing “Dark Shadows” from a screenplay by Seth Grahame-Smith, story by John August and Grahame-Smith, based on the television series created by Dan Curtis. Also producing are Oscar® winner Richard D. Zanuck (“Alice in Wonderland,” “Driving Miss Daisy”), continuing his long association with Burton; Oscar® winner Graham King, (“Rango,” “The Departed”), continuing his collaboration with Depp; Johnny Depp, Christi Dembrowski, and David Kennedy. The executive producers are Chris Lebenzon, Tim Headington, Christi Dembrowski and Bruce Berman.

The behind-the-scenes creative team includes cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel, Oscar®-winning production designer Rick Heinrichs (“Sleepy Hollow”), Oscar®-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood (“Alice in Wonderland”) and editor Chris Lebenzon (“Alice in Wonderland”). The score is composed by Danny Elfman.

A Warner Bros. Pictures presentation in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, an Infinitum Nihil/GK Films/Zanuck Company production, a Tim Burton film, “Dark Shadows” is slated to open on May 11, 2012, and will be distributed worldwide in theatres and IMAX by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

What is Ken's Book about? Ken took some time to tell us about it

So a number of people have asked me “Why do I, as a non-believer, write at length about the Bible?” I think the reason can best be expressed that while I don’t think you should drink the kool-aid, I do think people should know the contents of the punchbowl. How can we have a reasoned discussion of the world around us if we have little knowledge of what the person next to us believes?

On top of understanding what people believe, it is one of my passions to understand the development of such beliefs. When I was in college I was introduced to the idea of literary criticism. I grew fond of unravelling the literature put in front of my by my professors by examining it in the light of Marxist, post-colonial, or psychoanalytical theories. It was only natural that I would eventually apply the same critical eye to the Bible, a book I had started studying at an early age. Eventually I discovered forms of criticism particular to biblical texts, my favorite among them being source criticism—the study of source materials to discover literary history.

This book is the culmination of countless hours of reading, writing, editing, formatting, re-editing and reformatting. A year’s worth of late nights playing historian, ethnographer and literary scholar. The final product is a four-hundred page tome, the subject being a version of the first five books of the Bible, or Pentateuch, divided into their individual sources using a three color, grayscale, color code, nearly 250 footnotes, and four indices. You can check out the book here, and you can follow me on Twitter and Tumblr, or friend me on Facebook to get insider information about my upcoming projects.

This week we get into the power of prayer

This week we get into the power of prayer. After Bob came across a Huffington Post article by Rabbi Shmuel Herzfeld talking about how prayer is medicine for the sick. He claims evidence from a 1988 study by Dr. Randolph Byrd where people who were not prayed for suffered more complications. However, Bob disarms this claim and we provide another study done much more recently which shows that people who receive intercessory prayer and know it had the highest rate of complications when compared with the two control groups—those who were prayed for and didn’t know it and those who were not prayed for at all. Bob even ventures a guess as to why it might be that way.

We also discuss the notions of magic medallions, namely St. Christopher , the release of my first book, The Pentateuch: A Source Critical Version of the Five Books of Moses, and touch lightly on the subject of Christian and Atheist discrimination at work.

Join the party as they delve deep into the construction of the new old dwarven district, and press deep into the fissures the Dwarves dug too greedily and too deep. You know what they awoke in the darkness of the Eula depths… goblin and stink.

Not all as is it seems deep in these caves, and the streets of Eula quake with fear of an underdark up rising that could come at any moment, and an already tightly strung city is wound up to the point of snapping, what new adventures will the team uncover deep underground, and what will be left of the city when they emerge?

Bob, Jason and Ken maintain that they are simply being critical of claims

So last week we revisited the Shroud of Turin and with special mention to Dan Porter who wrote a blog critiquing us for our supposed lack of academic rigour in examining the shroud. Well this past week he wrote another blog, this one more scathing than the last. He resorts to petty name calling while admitting, finally, that he will never come on our show to discuss the matter in our venue. While Bob, Jason and I maintain that we are simply being critical of claims he would rather that we abandon critical faculties in favour of blind faith.

We also discuss the presidential run where no just about all the candidates who claimed that they were called by God to run for president have now been ousted by a man who believes that God lives on a planet called Kolob. We discuss what a Mormon in the White House would mean and the similarities with President Kennedy, a Catholic who had many of the same criticisms of his campaign.

He is thrown into a military mission to help reestablish a livable atmosphere for what’s left of humanity. Soon enough he encounters more than he bargained for: aliens, crazy survivors, inadequate equipment and a pretty unhealthy dose of bad luck. Jam-packed with visual inventions and plot twists, this movie offers a dark and humorous take on the post-apocalyptic genre.”

This week we examine the painful practice of crucifixion which occurs annually in the Philippines. We get into a commenter’s point about the size of the temple complex with regards to Jesus driving out the money changers. And we once again dive into the discussion of the Shroud of Turin.

Any loyal fans will no doubt remember our first foray into the shroud mystery. Since then we have touched on the subject a few more times. We even issued an invitation, and later a challenge, to Dan Porter to discuss the shroud with us on the air after his attempt at a scathing rebuttal of our first examination. And while we are on the subject of challenges, a new challenge has been issued for Richard Dawkins, of all people, to disprove the shroud for £20,000. But the shroud is also once again in the news. This time for a new book entertaining the idea that the shroud is authentic and that it, not the risen Jesus, is responsible for the spread of Christianity and the faith of the initial converts. As you will see, we tear this assumption apart so stay tuned as well as we can with the info we have.

Activism, Chocolate Slavery, The Food Empowerment Project and pure rage all on this episode of The New Architects

It has been a while since Thomas and I got together to do an episode of The New Architects.

We are back and in this episode we don’t hold back. We invited back our good friend, Lauren Ornelas of the Food Empowerment Project, so we can talk about the projects they have been working on.

We dive deep into the issue of child slavery in the chocolate industry and the importance of transparency of a company who is trading or producing chocolate items.

We know companies like Nestle, Hershey, Mars and other large chocolate companies buy cacao that is involved with the slave industry but what about companies we are suppose to trust, like the company Clif Bar.

Food Empowerment Project is leading the way and pushing Clif Bar to disclose which countries supply the cacao used to make their chocolate products – in fact, they have a campaign that you can help with by visiting their site and sending a lettter to Clif Bar to disclose where they purchase their chocolate.

We also go talk about what you can do to help put an end to child slavery.

To learn more about this issue please visit The Food Empowerment Project and listen to this episode of The New Architects.

Lauren Ornelas is the Food Empowerment Project’s founder and serves as the group’s volunteer executive director. She is also the former executive director of Viva!USA, a national nonprofit vegan advocacy organization. lauren has been active in the animal rights movement for over 20 years. After spending four years as National Campaign Coordinator for In Defense of Animals, lauren was asked by Viva!UK to start and run Viva!USA in 1999. In cooperation with activists across the country, she worked and achieved corporate changes within Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, and Pier 1 Imports, among others. She currently serves as Campaign Director with the Silicon Valley Toxics Coalition.

The Food Empowerment Project is based in Santa Clara County, the Food Empowerment Project decided to take a closer look in our own backyard to determine how easy it is for communities of color and low-income communities to have access to healthy fruits and vegetables, as well as alternatives to meat and dairy products.

The Food Empowerment Project seeks to create a more just and sustainable world by recognizing the power of one’s food choices. F.E.P. encourage healthy food choices that reflect a more compassionate society by spotlighting the abuse of animals on farms, the depletion of natural resources, unfair working conditions for produce workers, and the unavailability of healthy foods in low-income areas.

By making informed choices, we can prevent injustices against animals, people, and the environment. F.E.P. also work to discourage negligent corporations from pushing unhealthy foods into low-income areas and empower people to make healthier choices by growing their own fruits and vegetables. In everything they do, the Food Empowerment Project seeks specifically to empower those with the fewest resources.

Well we have made it through yet another Lent and this week starts the Holy Week. We sift through the Gospel traditions associated with the days and examine the stories which take us from the triumphal entry into Jerusalem up to the resurrection accounts. Depending on the source the details change. Did Jesus ride one donkey or two? What were the parables he told? What day was the last supper? We also deal in short with the transubstantiation of the Eucharist and what the implications are for eating the actual flesh and blood of Jesus.

We are very happy to have Dana Fredsti here on Zombie Popcorn, so enough of my words here is Dana’s post. – Enjoy!

He’s not a leader, but everything he does just seems to make sense.

He’s slowly but surely overcoming the limitations of a poverty-stricken, abusive and racist background.

While those around him seem to become less noble as the shit hits the fan in greater volume, he seems to be becoming more of a stand-up guy.

He saves a man (twice) who was inadvertently responsible for his brother’s possible death.

He knows the value of giving a woman flowers. Or at least one Cherokee Rose.

He’s a dead shot with a crossbow.

He’s made “redneck” the new “sexy.”

He makes really ginchy necklaces out of zombie ears.

That’s right, ladies and gents, I’m referring to none other than Squidbilly (er… Daryl) on The Walking Dead. My boyfriend Dave started referring to him as Squidbilly in reference to a cartoon on Adult Swim about … well… hillbilly squids. The name stuck with our Walking Dead Night gang and now Daryl will forever be Squidbilly to me, and Squidbilly will always have improbably sexy connotations.

What sets the best movies, books and (now) TV shows apart is that they feature interesting characters that actually evolve as the story unfolds, as opposed to one-dimensional stereotypes who exist solely to annoy the audience and die horribly (but generally not quickly enough to placate the annoyed audience).
One of the things that made the original Dawn of the Dead such a compelling story were the four main characters. We had Peter, level-headed yet kick-ass swat dude; Roger, also kick-ass, but not so level-headed; Stephen, impulsive, lousy shot, poor impulse control, wants to be one of the “cool kids”, but doesn’t know how; and Fran, pregnant, lousy shot and kind of wimpy at first, but capable of thinking outside the box. We saw these characters evolve (or die) as the movie progressed, and by the end I’m sure I wasn’t the only one rooting for Peter to get off his apparently suicidal ass and escape in the helicopter with Fran.

Walking Dead also rocks because it presents a great range of characters, with plenty of growth potential for all of them. In the beginning of the first season I fully expected to dislike Daryl as much as his delightfully racist brother Merle (Squidbilly the Elder), and yeah, he pretty much lived down to my low expectations the first time we meet him. But between the writers and Norman Reedus (the actor playing Daryl), the character quietly started developing dimension, the racist redneck rounding out with unexpected hints of conscience, empathy, and heroism. The scene where he lashed out at Carol out of guilt because he couldn’t save Sophia is one of my favorites because a: it’s a very real response to guilt and b: it gave Carol one of her best moments, showing insight into human nature beyond anything that, for instance, Lori had shown up to that moment. Okay, yes, not a great fan of Lori.

But Squidbilly? Oh yeah. From the time he saved T-Dog from the herd on the freeway, then shared his brother’s drug stash to save T-Dog from infection (if only he’d shared some lines with the guy!)… well, he’d won my heart. Looking for Sophia and giving Carol the flower were just the icing on the Sexy Redneck Cake of Ass-Kicking Goodness that is Squidbilly.
I’m not a fan of redneck culture or motorcycles, but damn me if Daryl isn’t one of the most compelling characters on Walking Dead and one of only reasons I didn’t go stark raving mad with boredom during the Find Sophia episodes. Let’s face it; if I had to choose one character on that show to be stuck with during the zombe apocalypse, it would be Daryl and his crossbow. Hell, I’d even help string ears for his very special necklaces.

As one of my best friends put it, “Daryl has that same scruffy appeal as a kitten you find in an alley covered in shmutz. You just know once you give it a bath and get it socialized, it’ll be cute as the dickens.”
That pretty much says it all.

New York City, not-too-distant-future: Eric Packer, a 28 year-old finance golden boy dreaming of living in a civilization ahead of this one, watches a dark shadow cast over the firmament of the Wall Street galaxy, of which he is the uncontested king. As he is chauffeured across midtown Manhattan to get a haircut at his father’s old barber, his anxious eyes are glued to the yuan’s exchange rate: it is mounting against all expectations, destroying Eric’s bet against it. Eric Packer is losing his empire with every tick of the clock. Meanwhile, an eruption of wild activity unfolds in the city’s streets.
Dawkins is set to become the Pat Robertson of atheism.” We tackle this and other absurd stances this week so stay tuned!

This week we revisit comments from last week regarding the Trinity and NASA. To review, the trinity came out of the First Council of Nicea where approx. 300 bishops from across the Empire gathered together to settle a few Christological disputes including the divinity of Christ. The theologians at the council came up with a singular creed on which they all (or at least mostly) agreed upon.

“We believe in We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, begotten of the Father, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father;”

The whole point of the Creed was to establish that Jesus was divine and not man. But the Church wanted him to be both. So the trinity was devised. A triune Godhead where the Father, Son and Holy Spirit were all God but not the same with each other. A nonsensical rationalization was devised which essentially painted themselves into a philosophical corner.

We also cover the recent Reason Rally in Washington DC. Though we, unfortunately, could not attend in person we did follow the media blitz which followed. This includes one ridiculous commenter from Fox News which describes the rally as “[a] rally for nothing in particular …[atheism] has become a kind of religion, a Church of Unbelief complete with a saint (Christopher Hitchens), a high priest (Richard Dawkins), and holy writ (anything Dawkins writes). And now, with the political nature of this rally, Dawkins is set to become the Pat Robertson of atheism.” We tackle this and other absurd stances this week so stay tuned!

Should people use the word Atheist? Should people be able to talk about God at work? Find out in this episode of Zombie Popcorn's This Non-Religious Life

In this week’s installment of This Non-Religious Life we go back to last week’s episode with Dr. Price to cover a comment about our explanation of The Holy Trinity. It is extremely difficult to explain something which is purposefully complex and unexplainable. With the Trinity you must keep talking because the second you stop explaining it you will almost certainly end up with Modalism or Tritheism, both of which are considered heretical views. The Trinity is certainly a case where theologians painted themselves into a corner from which they can never escape.

We also get into a case where a NASA employee was supposedly fired for espousing belief in Intelligent Design. While we conclude that this is almost certainly not the case and there is certainly a spin on this, just as there was in the case of the people who claimed the same thing for Ben Stein’s documentary of ID, Expelled, we can’t ever be certain.

But much of the focus was not on the two previous topics, a lot of it, and I think this is the most important bit, is a discussion about the A-Word: i.e. calling oneself an atheist. In the past years there have been a number of terms which have meant basically the same thing as being an atheist, be it secular humanist, bright, freethinker, or skeptic but they all fall short. There is a new documentary,
Scarlet Letter, coming out which promotes the idea that people should use the word atheist. If people use the word as a self identifier then we might eventually overcome the ignorance about who we are or what we think.

The Carnival is coming to town!

December of last year, we told you about Darren Lynn Bousman’s upcoming musical, The Devil’s Carnival. In that post, was the release of a very strange teaser where Lucifer was watching Emilie Autumn dance around a carnival setting.

Today, we have a new teaser and this one answers some of our questions about the film but leaves us with more questions.

I loved the first musical Bousman did, Repo! The Genetic Opera so I look forward to seeing this and as always they have sweeten the deal because Bousman and his crew will be taking the movie on the road with a tour. Similar to how Kevin Smith did with his film, Red State – below the trailer are the current tour dates.

Here is what we know about the film and the trailer – will you go see it?

In The Devil’s Carnival, sinners are invited to a theme park where they endure the repetition of their transgressions. What chances do a conniving kleptomaniac, a gullible teenager, and an obsessed father stand when facing their own moral failings? Lucifer and his colorful cast of singing carnies invite you to grab a ticket to The Devil’s Carnival to find out!

Directed by Bousman

the film features twelve original songs by Zdunich and Saar Hendelman

Staring;
Emilie Autumn,
Dayton Callie,
M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan of Slipknot,
Briana Evigan,
J. LaRose,
Jessica Lowndes,
Mighty Mike of Mini Kiss,
internet star Hannah Minx,
Ivan Moody of Five Finger Death Punch

Returning Repo! cast members;
Bill Moseley,
Ogre of Skinny Puppy,

The First Dark Shadows Trailer has arrived - watch it now!

The moment is upon us so prepare yourself for the first trailer of …. DARK SHADOWS!

Here’s the official synopsis:

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Depp) has the world at his feet–or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy…until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Green). Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles. Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth’s ne’er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Moretz); and Roger’s precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis (Jackie Earle Haley) and David’s new nanny, Victoria Winters, played by Bella Heathcote.

Now the official trailer!

“You may strategically place your wonderful lips upon my posterior and kiss it repeatedly!”

This week we decided to call in a professional. We managed to get in touch with our favourite biblical scholar, Dr. Robert M. Price to help us with some interesting things we read online concerning the historical Jesus. Professor Dr. James Tabor, department chair of the Religious Studies Department at UNC Charlotte, is coming out with a new book The Jesus Discovery in which he outlines a new argument based on several tombs unearthed in Jerusalem which he believes lead to the origin of Christianity. Dr. Tabor believes he has unearthed the family tomb of Jesus.

We discuss this claim as in depth as we can and are lucky to have Dr. Price to guide us along as he has tackled the claims of Dr. Tabor before. We discuss the famed James ossuary, relic mongering, and the nonsensical trinity. Enjoy the show, and remember to check out Dr. Price’s site if you haven’t already.

Watch the trailer for the trailer for Prometheus

I love have some studios build up hype and excitement for a film. There are some movies that don’t need much hype because of the epic nature of the film – ie; Lord of the Rings, Hobbit and of course, Prometheus.

Studios will continue to push out the hype machine even for those epic films and we are now going to witness something new.

Yes, we will see new footage of the film Prometheus – but we will also see a trailer for a trailer.

“Back for more?” grunts the mountain of a surly man behind the counter.

You nod, and slide a gold piece across across the stained and worn counter, as you tweak your hood, making sure that your face is still draped in shadow. This is not a tavern where it would do for people to discover your identity, or your plans.

With a speed that belies his girth, the barkeep snatches the gold off the counter and deposits into his coinpurse.

Conspiratorially he leans on his elbows until your faces are only inches away. ” You didn’t hear it from me” He says, his words wafting on the stench of stale beer and rotting meat, “but last I heard, The Natural Ones crew was locked in deadly combat against the reanimated remains of a couple of guardsmen that the shade of Hollysword reanimated… I doubt that they will survive the night.”

His eyes quickly dart from the other bar patrons to the door, and he whispers “If they DO survive I hear you can reach them at @NaturalOnesDM using that blasted new Twittermancy, or using that Wizarding mail at Naturalones[at]zombie-popcorn.com.”

Your head whips around as you see the door splinter inwards, and standing among the debris is the captain of the guard, looking straight at you.

Roll for initiative.

This month Kirk Cameron, our lovable former teen star gone Christian evangelist and crocoduck expert, releases his new “documentary” Monumental: In Search of America’s National Treasure

So I am back from my vacation to the colder climes and this week we jump back into the foray of Christian Nationalist craziness. This month Kirk Cameron, our lovable former teen star gone Christian evangelist and crocoduck expert, releases his new “documentary” Monumental: In Search of America’s National Treasure. Spoiler alert: the treasure has to do with conflating the Mayflower Pilgrims and the Founding Fathers. Like many Christian Nationalists out there our buddy Kirk is having a take at trying to push these two groups, who in reality are separated by over 250 years, together.

This conversation eventually takes us from Ray Comfort’s sidekick to Mike Huckabee and Newt Gingrich’s favourite faux historian, David Barton. For more information about the crazy twists and turns that our hour long conversation takes you will have to listen for yourself.

The film was directed by Chris Butler and Sam Fell. Chris was the storyboard supervisor for Caroline and the storyboard artist for Corpse Bride and Sam directed The Tale of Despereaux. As you can see, this film has some talented people behind it so you know it will be good… just check out the trailer and tell you don’t love this movie already.
