John Cusack is SOOOO HOT!

Posted on 29 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

Ok, every time I mention ANYTHING about John Cusack, I am quickly cut-off by a nearby voice blurting out, “John Cusack is soooo hot!’  No, it is not just Mylie blurting it out – it is any female who is within ear shot of me speaking his name. johnpoe

So, ladies and men who feel this way – lets take a moment to get this out of the way because this post will be about ……. John Cusack.

This week John Cusack posted on his twitter account this information, “officiali- will play edgar allen poe in fall-a-film called the raven, send any poe- gold – my way as i begin this journey into the abyss”

This is where I blurt, “Edgar Allen Poe is SOOOOO Awesome!”  ( now we have something in common).

This story get even better because the director, James McTeigue – they guy who directed V for Vendetta and Ninja Assassin – will be directing The Raven (starring John Cusack).

The plot:

“There’s basically a serial killer loose in 1850′s Baltimore and he’s using Poe’s stories as his methodology, so then he leaves clues at each murder and says it’s up to Poe to find him before he kills (again).”

Zombies Help Prisoners Escape from Prison

Posted on 26 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

Five inmates escaped a police precinct in Agora, Lapasan in Cagayan de Oro City. zombiebreak

How did they escape?  They had a little help from Zombies. According to the news wire, A police officer was busy playing the video game “Plants vs. Zombies” and left the keys. The inmates had no trouble stealing them.

For those who don’t know about ‘Plants vs. Zombies’ – and don’t understand how a police officer could ignore his duties – just watch this trailer for the game.

Reports say that four of the prisoners have been recaptured but no word if the officer has been put on leave.  I guess that would be more of a reward for him because he would be able to play ‘Plants vs Zombies’ more.

The movie Get Low is out in theaters now and people should not let this movie slip through their fingers.

Get Low stars Robert Duvall,Sissy Spacek,Bill Murray, and a long list of other great actors.   A movie spun out of equal parts folk tale, fable and real-life legend about the mysterious, 1930s Tennessee hermit who famously threw his own rollicking funeral party… while he was still alive.

Choose Your Own Adventure Book, I Mean Movie

Posted on 11 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

Remember the choose your own adventure books we used to read when we were kids? choose

Remember how much fun they were and how you tried to collect them all when the book fair came to your school?

Choose Your Own Adventure is a series of children’s gamebooks first published by Bantam Books from 1979-1998 and currently being re-published by Chooseco. Each story is written from a second-person point of view, with the reader assuming the role of the protagonist and making choices that determine the main character’s actions in response to the plot and its outcome.

Ok, now that I have taken you down memory lane what would you say if I say there is a Choose Your Own Adventure that involved zombies?  and what would you say if I told you it was not a book but a ‘movie’.

You would say AWESOME, where can I watch this?   – Right?

So here it is the Choose Your Own Adventure Zombie movie.

(more after the video.)

As you saw in the video  there is pizza company called, Hell Pizza.  Yes, this is a real pizza company and this is their commercial.  Their flagship store is headquartered in New Zealand and has locations in Ireland, Australia, UK  and apparently coming soon to Canada.

Don’t get your hopes up yet for the United States, I don’t see how a place like this would ever fly well in the states but if they ever arrive here – they will be my one and only pizza place.

Zombie Popcorn Radio: The Gail Carriger Show

Posted on 02 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

In this episode of Zombie Popcorn Radio we look into the mind that created a new vision of vampires, werewolves, parasols and tea – the wonderful and talented, Gail Carriger.   gailtea

New York Times Bestselling author Gail Carriger began writing in order to cope with being raised in obscurity by an expatriate Brit and an incurable curmudgeon. She escaped small town life and inadvertently acquired several degrees in Higher Learning. Ms. Carriger then traveled the historic cities of Europe, subsisting entirely on biscuits secreted in her handbag. She now resides in the Colonies, surrounded by fantastic shoes, where she insists on tea imported directly from London. She is fond of teeny tiny hats and tropical fruit. The Parasol Protectorate books are: Soulless (Oct. 2009), Changeless (March 2010),Blameless (Sept. 2010), Heartless(2011), and Timeless (2012). Soulless won the ALA’s Alex Award.

Gail is the author of the The Parasol Protectorate Series. The books are comedies of manners set in Victorian London: full of vampires, dirigibles, and tea. They are either Jane Austen doing urban fantasy, or PG Wodehouse doing steampunk. Soulless, Book the First, came out October 2009 and the ‘Soulless’ audiobook was named one of Audible‘s top 20 sleeper hits. Changeless, Book the Second, in March 2010 and is a New York Times Bestseller. Blameless will be released September 1, 2010 from Orbit US. Heartless is due out Spring of 2011, and Timeless in the Spring of 2012.

Everything you ever wanted to know about Gail, her work, her strong dislike of sweet tea, steampunk, food and other things you would never think would come up in an interview is revealed here on Zombie Popcorn Radio.

So, put the tea pot on because for the next 2 hours sweet iced tea is not welcomed here, and enjoy this wonderful evening with Gail Carriger.

Zombie Popcorn’s Book Club: The Graveyard Book

Posted on 01 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

Zombie Popcorn’s Book Club just announced this weeks book and it is ‘The Graveyard Book‘ by Neil Gaiman.

This book is very interesting and if you like the story of Coraline you will love this story.   graveyardb

Bod is an unusual boy who inhabits an unusual place-he’s the only living resident of a graveyard. Raised from infancy by the ghosts, werewolves, and other cemetery denizens, Bod has learned the antiquated customs of his guardians’ time as well as their timely ghostly teachings-like the ability to Fade. Can a boy raised by ghosts face the wonders and terrors of the worlds of both the living and the dead? And then there are things like ghouls that aren’t really one thing or the other. This chilling tale is Neil Gaiman’s first full-length novel for middle-grade readers since the internationally bestselling and universally acclaimed Coraline. Like Coraline, this book is sure to enchant and surprise young readers as well as Neil Gaiman’s legion of adult fans.

If you haven’t already, head over to the Zombie Popcorn Book Club and grab a copy of the book and in the meantime, check out this reading of the first chapter of the book by Neil Gaiman.

Zombie Popcorn’s Stories: The Life of a Carny

Posted on 31 July 2010 by Jason Bayless

When I was younger and still to this day, I have always been fascinated with the life of a carny and the world of carnivals .  I don’t know if it was because of the movies and stories, like Something Wicked This Way Comes and The Funhouse that painted a picture of a magical and yet bizarre world. All I know was that I was hooked.

So with ideas of magic and fantasy in our heads, Paul and I set out to hear the story of a carny and we found one.   This is the story of Nick, a carny who ran away from home at age 15 to join the carny life.

So kick back and listen to the story that takes you from age 15 up to the point where Nick is sitting at the table telling us his story.  You will learn about pain, charity and even the tricks of the trade in this episode of Zombie Popcorn’s Stories: The Life of a Carny.

Women of Anarchy- Ethel MacDonald

Posted on 30 July 2010 by Jason Bayless

Sometimes we need to look at our history to be inspired to do the things that seem too hard to do but need to be done.  Today, we will take a look at the history of Ethel MacDonald. an-anarchists-story-ethel-macdonald

Ethel MacDonald  was a Glasgow-based Scottish anarchist and activist and, in 1937, during the Spanish Civil War, a propagandist on Barcelona Loyalist radio.   A native of Motherwell, Scotland, Ethel MacDonald, one of nine children, left home at sixteen, joined the Independent Labour Party (ILP) and worked at various jobs. In 1931 she met Guy Aldred and, with him, became politically active in the Anti-Parliamentary Communist Federation (APCF). From then on, she was associated with Aldred and joined him in the June 1934 formation of the United Socialist Movement (USM).

In October 1936 MacDonald travelled to Barcelona with Guy Aldred’s partner, Jenny Patrick, to represent and show the support of the Scottish anarchist movement for the Republican (Loyalist) side in the Spanish Civil War. In January 1937 she began to transmit regular English-language reports on the war on Barcelona’s widely-heard Anarchist radio station run by the Confederacion Nacional del Trabajo (CNT) [National Workers Confederation]. In the crackdown following the events of May 1937 (Barcelona May Days)  she assisted the escape of anarchists wanted by the Communist secret police and smuggled into prison letters and food for fellow anarchists held by regional authorities. Through her activities in helping anarchists escape Spain, she became renowned in the British press as the “Scots Scarlet Pimpernel”. Between July and November 1937, she was a national figure in the newspapers, with daily reports and inquiries as to her whereabouts and activities. Eventually she herself was arrested by a faction of the Loyalist forces, but later released. She returned to Glasgow that November, following speaking engagements in France and Amsterdam.

There is a book and documentary out about Ethel MacDonald that everyone should read or at least watch the documentary.  So, to make it easy you can pick up the book here as well, as watch the entire documentary.

‘Post from Prison’ Series Letter 9

Posted on 28 July 2010 by Jason Bayless

Welcome to the  Zombie Popcorn’s Post from Prison Series. prison_hands

Zombie Popcorn is opening its pages to the words of an individual who is sitting in prison.  We will get first hand experiences about life in prison.   They will talk about their likes, loves, dislikes and what is is like being in prison. Our first ‘Post from Prison‘ goes by the name, “Z0mbi3Kid“.  He would like to remain anonymous and he will post under that name.  This ensures that he can speak freely without the fear of being reprimanded.

You will be able respond to his writing in the comment section under each post.  I will then print out the post page and mail it to him for his response.

You can always find the other letters in the ‘Post from Prison’ archive.

  • Letter 9

Right now it is about 8:40am on July 17th, Sunday morning and I thought I would write and give an update of my situation.  Well, I got my answer back from parole and they decided to set me off until next June. So I will get reviewed for parole next June.  I’m fine with that because I was kind of expecting  it because of my history.  Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) has put a lot of pressure on the parole board in Texas and hardly any DWI’s (Driving while intoxicated) make  their first parole.  So I am just trying to work hard at my job and take every class available to me and hope they have mercy on me next year.  I have got some good things going on since I got to this unit.  I am no longer doing field labor on the hoe squad out in the heat. I have moved up to ‘Education Bld. Janitor”.  Yeah, I am the janitor at the school house M-F 6:30-2:30.  In my this is one of the best jobs on the unit because the education building has AIR CONDITIONING in it!  So I like going to work now, especially on days like last Friday when the heat index as 109 degrees in Texas.

I also got moved to a ‘working’ dorm. That is where everybody has jobs they have to be at every morning. This is good because it is very quiet.  The new building I’m in even has a window right beside it where I can open or close it.  So I have a constant breeze flowing by head all the time.  So yeah, even though I got set off till next June, my situation could be worse.

My Mom and Dad brought my daughter up here last weekend. That was really the highlight of m y month.  I only get to see them about once a month because Bonham is so far away from where they live.  My daughter seems like she is getter bigger every time I see her. She is learning to read and couldn’t wait to read to me. She read me a whole Dr. Seuss book during our visit. It was the ABC one. I was really happy and at the same time I was very heavy hearted because I’m missing so much of her life.  She is in gymnastics also and she was so proud that she had graduated up to the next class in gymnastics. She wanted to show me how she does some flips and cartwheels but she couldn’t show me because we all had to stay seated.

Yes, visits are very emotional and I feel close to tears the whole time.   Yes, I will defiantly remember how they fell next time I want to go get fucked up.  My daughter has been staying with my parents ever since she was six months old.  Her mom and I got in a car accident when she was six months. Her mom and I ended up in the hospital – I was in ICU for 7 days and thankfully recovered and got to come home. Her mom was in the ICU for 9 days bust wasn’t able to pull through.  My daughter lost her mom when she was six months old.  I handled everything so very, very wrong. Instead of being a man and being strong and being there for my daughter, I turned to drugs and alcohol.  It isn’t till now that I have actually slowed down and steeped back and looked at my life and what I have been doing to myself and to the people close to me.  All I see is a self-centered, asshole who cares about nobody but himself.  I feel like I am really at a turning point in my life this time because I realize now how I was.  I have never felt so determined not to be that person again.  In a weird way  coming to the penitentary probably saved my life in more ways than one.

Well, it is about 9:20 now and its starting to get hot. I am already starting to sweat so I am gonna run and find some water.  So until next time – take care.

—-“Z0mbi3Kid“

The following letter is a response letter to April – who left a comment on one of the past ‘Post from Prison’ posts.

April,

I am 28 years old. I am sorry to hear about your friend having to experience being locked up at such a young age. You maybe right about him feeling safe and secure in jail.  There are a lot of people  taht really get used to not worrying about where they are going to lay their head at night or where their next meal is gonna come from.  They get used to people telling them what to do and when they are to do it.  I guess it is like they say, they become institutionalized.

You said you saw  him the day he got out and it was like you didn’t even know him. I’ve always said that coming to jail for any length of time will defiantly change a person, whether for the better or worse it will change a person. So what is your relationship to this person?  How is he adjusting to life on the outside? Why are you so far away from him now?

If you don’t want to answer these questions on here – send a message to Jason and he will give you my mailing address so you write directly.  Or you can just keep posting on the Zombie Popcorn site. Either way I will be looking forward to hearing back from you.

Till then, so long.

—-“Z0mbi3Kid“

The Real Psycho

The Real Psycho

Posted on 25 July 2010 by Jason Bayless

The movie Psycho directed by Alfred Hitchcock,  is one of the best horror films of all time. Not only did  it set the atmosphere of suspense and fear it burned the image of Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates into everyone’s mind. At the same time it  made everyone afraid to take a shower. Psycho is now considered one of Hitchcock’s best films.

But what do we know about the history of Psycho and Robert Bloch – the guy who wrote the book, Psycho that was later adapted into the movie. psycho

Robert Bloch was born on April 5, 1917 and he was one of the youngest members of the H.P. Lovecraft Circle. Robert a contributor to pulp magazines such as Weird Tales in his early career, and was also a prolific screenwriter. He won a Hugo Award, which is an award given every year for the best science fiction or fantasy works and achievements. The Bram Stoker Award – which is a recognition presented by the Horror Writers Association (HWA) for “superior achievement” in horror writing and a long list of other awards and achievements.

Bloch based his book, Psycho on Ed Gein.   At the time of Gein’s arrest, Bloch was living 35 miles away from Plainfield in Weyauwega – Gein’s hometown and location for all his crimes.Robert Bloch was familiar with the Gein case because of being close to the locations, but not the specific details, Bloch began writing with “the notion that the man next door may be a monster unsuspected even in the gossip-ridden microcosm of small-town life.” Bloch was surprised years later when he “discovered how closely the imaginary character I’d created resembled the real Ed Gein both in overt act and apparent motivation.”

Robert Bloch also wrote two sequels to the Psycho story, Psycho II and Psycho House, but none of them are even related to the movie sequels.

The Robert Bloch novel, Psycho is a book that will grip you and shake you up from the inside-out – and I highly recommend it for everyone.

If you want pick up the hardcover or the audio book, head over to Zombie Popcorn’s Book Club and grab yourself a copy.

Somos lo que hay — A Family of Cannibals

Posted on 15 July 2010 by Jason Bayless

There is a new Spanish film that has a lot of people talking and has caught my attention.  That film is ‘Somos lo que hay’ aka ‘We are What We are’.     weare

The story line seems original and is set in modern times.  The way the story is told is what makes me want to see this film.

A middle-aged man dies in the street, leaving his widow and three children destitute. The devastated family is confronted not only with his loss but with a terrible challenge – how to survive. For they are cannibals. They have always existed on a diet of human flesh consumed in bloody ritual ceremonies… and the victims have always been provided by the father. Now that he is gone, who will hunt? Who will lead them? How will they slake their horrific hunger? The task falls to the eldest son, Alfredo, a teenage misfit who seems far from ready to accept the challenge… But without human meat the family will die.

Shocking, bloody and deeply moving, WE ARE WHAT WE ARE is a remarkable reinvention of the horror genre – a visceral and powerfully emotional portrait of a family bound by a terrible secret hunger and driven by monstrous appetites.

I Saw the Devil

Posted on 13 July 2010 by Jason Bayless

I am very excited to see the upcoming Korean film, ‘I Saw the Devil.  It is currently in Post-production and is said to be released early August.  The sad part about the release is that it is very unlikely that it will ever have an official release in the States – but I am keeping my fingers crossed.   isawthedevil

Here is what it is about…

“A hard-boiled thriller, I Saw The Devil stars Choi Min-sik (Oldboy) as a psychopathic serial killer up against Lee Byung-hun (G.I. Joe: The Resurrection Of The Cobra) as a special agent whose fiancée becomes one of his victims. Lee’s cool-headed and intelligent character in turn becomes a monster in order to avenge the killing.”

now here is the trailer…

I will keep you posted on release dates so stay tuned.

Sept. 3rd Machete is Coming for You!

Posted on 09 July 2010 by Jason Bayless

Back in April we told you about how Robert Rodriguez was working on a full featured film of the ‘fake’ trailer, Machete.   machete_0

Today, I am happy to let you know that the film will hit the streets on Sept. 3rd, 2010.

The cast is the same;

Danny Trejo , Steven Segal, Don Johnson, Cheech Marin, Robert DeNiro, Jeff Fahey and Michelle Rodriguez.

The story plot is the same;

The highly skilled Federale Machete is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he’s about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he’s been set up. He barely survives the sniper’s bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence. If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren’t you!

The new trailer- kick ass!

Which is an event that happens every year right before Halloween.  Monster Fest features movie screenings, costume contests, guest speakers, discussion panels with authors and media luminaries, monster-themed artwork, spooky displays, and fun activities for the kids. The program also hosts an array of vendors specializing in a wide variety of merchandise. fantasmo-cult-cinema

A side project  from one of the creators of MonsterFest is the Fantasmo Cult Cinema Explosion.

Fantasmo Cult Cinema Explosion is a once a month interactive film experience, like the old days. Team Fantasmo brings to you some of the best and worst cult movies of all time to the big screen. Along with a double feature, door prizes and food at every show, there are special surprises at some shows…and the best part? it’s all 100% FREE!!…

There is a screening tonight (Friday July 2, 2010) and it is Bruce Campbell night and they will feature ”Bubba Ho Tep” and “Army of Darkness”   bubba_ho_tep_poster

‘Post from Prison’ Series Letter 7 and 8

Posted on 24 June 2010 by Jason Bayless

  • Letter 7

They have now transferred me to another unit. I am now at the Choice ***** Unit in ********, Texas.  It ain’t too bad here. It is a small (about 1,000 men) unit. It is real clean and they feed really good too. It’s rare that I can finish all the food they put on the tray.  The rec yard is good too -it has a long dirt jogging track and it also has basketball, volleyball, handball and weights.

They gave me a job on the hoe squad swinging an aggie all day or picking vegetables, but we only go to work about one or two times a week so I spend most of my time jogging or lifting weights. One bad thing about being at this unit  is that it is about 30 percent sex offenders.  For whatever reason they have so many of them here I have no idea.  A lot of these guys are in here for raping little kids and stuff.

Imagine sleeping a few feet from a grown man who you know is in prison for sodomizing children. It is a real test for ones patience and tolerance.  I am trying real hard to bite my tongue and do my time so I can come home.  Still waiting on my answer from parole.

Will write more later. – Till then

This is to address a certain portion of the inmate population.

We see and hear you. The big mouth. Loud, rude and vulgar. You don’t go to school and you don’t work.   There, in the front now before the television. We see you. We hear you — Repating what the television says, as if we could not read the captions or hear it ourselves. and it is difficult to hear with you nearby. We hear you and we see you, making more noises than everyone.  The self appointed expert on everything.  The sports expert.  The political expert. With your EA score  of 4.9! We see you, breaking in every line, for chow, laundry and commissary.  We hear you yelling of what is right is right, as you gossip and slander, and curse all around you. As you confront every staff member  until they are so tired of dealing with you that no one else can get the simplest request satisfied.

You, the big mouth, the big man. The professional inmate. Always with a cell packed with commissary yet you never seem to have a stamped envelope, pen or any coffee.  — We see you, hear you and know you. Everyone must do your time, forced to listen as you must be the center of attention. You interrupt all conversations, brush by anyone on your path to the front of the lines.  You slur out “excuse me’, but you don’t mean it.  We know you, hear you, see you, liar.

You always going to fight someone, intimidation being your life. You, the big mouth, the fighter who won’t fight. Could you be an insecure coward?

We heard of your businesses, your millions, your cars, planes, boats, mistresses, college degrees, your baby’s momma and more.

You the big mouth, the thief, the coward, the liar. You are part of prison life. You represent everything we detest. Some learn from the prison experience.  Determined never to repeat the mistakes. How we avoid you.  You, the pest, the parasite.  Since you cannot make it alone, you drag us down with you, making us aprt of your misery.

You, the bigh mouth. We see you, hear you always. Tell us agian about your God, your religion and how yours is alright, but no one elses beliefs are worthwhile.   The expert, the liar, the theif. Ogling every female staff member. You are making all suffer around you. Perhaps prisons were built for those like you. Society has no use for you either. You, the big mouth, the center of attention.  Tell us again how you do your own time, mind your own business. Tell us again about how right is right, what goes around comes around. As you steal from the serving lines, steal laundry, bleach, food and anything else.

I regret coming to prison.  Seeing and hearing you for all this time will defiantly by my deterrent for returning.  You routinely speak your hatred, ignorance and stupidity. It is you, we see, hear you, endure you. The big mouth – the big liar – the big phony -the big pest and big parasite.

Zombie Popcorn Radio’s New Home

Posted on 22 June 2010 by Jason Bayless

Zombie Popcorn Radio has a new home on Zombie Popcorn now. zpradiohead

Zombie Popcorn Radio started back in September 2009 and it was just Josh and me.  Since that time we have grown and now Paul has become apart of the show and has contributed his music by creating the Zombie Popcorn Radio intro.

We have met some wonderful people during the time of doing the show and a couple of the listeners have become staples of the show.  If you have ever listened to an episode or watched it in 3D, then you know 3DmovieMan and Jen. – If not, what are you waiting for?

We have also interviewed some amazing people on Zombie Popcorn Radio, including a long time 3D idol of mine, Mr. Tony Anthony.  Check out the list of people we interviewed in such a short time that we have been live on the ‘air’.

So it was time to make a bigger home for Zombie Popcorn Radio because we have no plans of stopping.  Check out the new look of Zombie Popcorn Radio and let me know what you think and don’t forget to tune in every Saturday Night at 7-9pm Eastern.

PS  – I am still working on the site and updating all of the episodes so the most current ones are currently not up – but this gives you a chance to listen to some of the very first episodes.  So enjoy

ZP’s Book Club: Meat

Posted on 19 June 2010 by Jason Bayless

It is that time again – Yes, for a new addition to the Zombie Popcorn Book Club.  This week Paul has picked out the book for you all to read and/or listen to – which I am shocked by he choice.

Find out why I am shocked and more about the book on Saturday night at 7pm Eastern on Zombie Popcorn Radio.  In the meantime, grab yourself a copy of this book in either audio format or hard copy.

June 18, 2010 Zombie Popcorn’s Book of the week;

Meat (Paul’s Pick)

“Meat” – a dystopian horror fable about the evils of factory farming and slaughter. Richard Shanti, a guilt-ridden slaughterhouse worker, has serious misgivings about his job. He’s known as the Ice Pick – the calmest, most efficient bolt-gunner in Abyrne’s history. Yet, in secret, he and his family are vegetarian. If the authorities find out, he’ll be tried and slaughtered for sacrilege along with the Chosen – Abyrne’s livestock. “Meat” is a tale of human depravity set in a grim post-cataclysmic England. Abyrne’s townsfolk need meat to survive. Their religion promotes flesh-eating, their economy depends on it. Abyrne’s ruling powers are the atheist Meat Baron, Rory Magnus, and the hyper-religious Parsons of the Welfare, headed by the Grand Bishop. The two factions despise each but cannot maintain control without cooperating. In the derelict quarter the heretical messiah, John Collins, is preaching a blasphemous new doctrine: Meat isn’t necessary for survival. The townsfolk are listening. The tale begins as Abyrne faces its greatest conflict – war between the Meat Baron and the Welfare. Meanwhile, the townsfolk are hungry. The townsfolk must be fed…

So, what are you waiting for lets feed the townsfolk…grab Meat today!

Homefront

Posted on 18 June 2010 by Jason Bayless

There is a game that was highlighted at E3 but didn’t get much press coverage – If it did, I didn’t see it.  The game is called Homefront.

“Homefront”, a first-person shooter that tells the story of a United States humbled by total economic collapse, then conquered by North Korea.  The story was written by John Milius. Yes, that name should ring a bell for any movie lover. He worked on Dirty Harry, Apocalypse Now, Conan,  Red Dawn and several others.   With the scriptwriter with such an amazing film background only adds to my excitement for this game.

The best way to describe this game is to show it to you so here it is….

now the game play..

Loki’s Workshop

Posted on 11 June 2010 by Jason Bayless

If you read Zombie Popcorn or listened to Zombie Popcorn Radio you know how obsessed I am about wanting to create sections of my house (the theater room)  and the Zombie Popcorn Radio studio into a dark, evil, haunted realm.   I just haven’t  made the time to do it yet. Sure, I could just throw up some old skulls, splatter blood around the room and drape some fake spider webs around but it just wouldn’t be the same as taking the time and putting your heart and soul into creating a classic and beautifully frightening environment.

The good news is I have found some people that can help create the most awesome haunted creations ever. They even  understand what it takes to create an atmosphere of horror – not just an environment.   They are known as the Loki’s Workshop shelves

Check out what they can do for you.

Loki’s Workshop specializes in designing your Haunt from the ground up, including, but not limited to the following:

  • Detailed Floor Plans and Maze Designs
  • Facade Design
  • Detailing and Custom Decor
  • Complete Haunt Overhauls
  • Haunted Houses, Walks, and Hayrides
  • Themed Parties and Corporate Events
  • Convention Displays
  • Event Management
  • Sets and Environments

Our talented aesthetics engineers can also provide smaller, more intimate services for those with smaller budgets. We can also create the following:

  • Custom Props
  • Masks, wounds and appliances
  • Atmospheric Soundtracks
  • Custom Pneumatics
  • Training and Seminars

I am thinking sometime in the near future of taking Zombie Popcorn Radio on location and visiting the Loki’s Workshop – but until then you should visit the Loki’s Workshop and have them decorate your living room.

‘Posts from Prison’ Series Letter 6

Posted on 10 June 2010 by Jason Bayless

Welcome to the second letter in the Zombie Popcorn’s Post from Prison Series. prison_hands

I am still here at the —- Unit. Every six months all of the Texas Department of Corrections (TDC) goes on lockdown for ‘Shakedown’.  That is where they stop all movements, stop all classes, close down the chow-halls and the inmates stay in their cells.  For the unfortunate ones who are on stuck on intake/transfer units, like I am are in dorm type rooms and don’t have cells so we are required to say in our bunks and can only get down to use the restroom.  We are now into this lockdown for eight (8) days and will probably go another week.

They haven’t changed our sheets yet and don’t know if they are going to.  When it is  time to eat they bring us “Johnny” sacks – which is just like a sack lunch. We get them three times a day.  All they have in the bags are a peanut-butter sandwich – NOT peanut-butter and Jelly, just peanut-butter – and a ham and cheese sandwich – dry.  It wasn’t bad at first but now I feel like my stomach is touching my back.

I’ve had a lot of time to get to know the guy that sleeps below me.  He is a 20 year old black kid who is in here for shooting his friend and killing him.  They gave him 12 years.  He is a really good kid. He is very respectful and he stays in the bible. He will probably have to do all of the 12 years because it is a murder charge. He took the 12 years on a plea bargain because he was scared to take it to trial because  he thought they would give him life. From the sound of his side of the story it sounds like it was self-defense. The prosecution must not have had much on him if they plea bargained 12 years on a murder case.

As for me everything is going alright besides by back hurting from being in this bunk for eight days.  I haven’t talked to my girl since I got to TDC.  I guess she is out there in the jungle still.  I don’t  really expect her to stay. She still out there drinking heavily and doing drugs with no signs of slowing down. So its really probably better that she just moves on.

I did get to see parole the other day. The parole officer seemed to think that they would send me to a treatment program and then send me home. But I won’t know for sure for about 6-8 more weeks when the parole board votes.  If they do send me to a program I’ll  probably be home in about a year. The other alternative is that they give me a year set off and review me again next year.  Until I find something out, I will be here trying to beat the heat.  Thanks for listening.
