Cthulhu vs The Real Ghostbusters cartoon

Posted on 29 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

First, I want to give thanks to the site, Elder Signs Press for writing the post ‘Cthulhu in Pop Culture‘ – (this is were I got the video in this post from.)

I remember as a kid I would watch cartoons on Saturday morning, I am sure every child did.  I would watch Pink Panther, Dungeons and Dragons, Thundercats, and many others.  There was one cartoon that I never got into was The Real Ghostbusters.  I think maybe I was too old when they started to air them or maybe I had a secret loyalty to the movie – what ever it was I didn’t like it.

Now, I kinda wished that I did watch some of the episodes because apparently they had some really awesome content and tips of the hat to classic horror.

Check out this clip of  The Real Ghostbuster – The Ghostbusters go up against Cathulhu, one of the old ones, & his cult with the help of Doctor Alice Derleth from Arkham.

How freaking awesome is this?  Did you see the magazine he pulled out to learn how to battle Cathulhu – So amazing.

John Cusack is SOOOO HOT!

John Cusack is SOOOO HOT!

Posted on 29 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

Ok, every time I mention ANYTHING about John Cusack, I am quickly cut-off by a nearby voice blurting out, “John Cusack is soooo hot!’  No, it is not just Mylie blurting it out – it is any female who is within ear shot of me speaking his name. johnpoe

So, ladies and men who feel this way – lets take a moment to get this out of the way because this post will be about ……. John Cusack.

This week John Cusack posted on his twitter account this information, “officiali- will play edgar allen poe in fall-a-film called the raven, send any poe- gold – my way as i begin this journey into the abyss”

This is where I blurt, “Edgar Allen Poe is SOOOOO Awesome!”  ( now we have something in common).

This story get even better because the director, James McTeigue – they guy who directed V for Vendetta and Ninja Assassin – will be directing The Raven (starring John Cusack).

The plot:

“There’s basically a serial killer loose in 1850′s Baltimore and he’s using Poe’s stories as his methodology, so then he leaves clues at each murder and says it’s up to Poe to find him before he kills (again).”

The Walking Dead Official Release

Posted on 27 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

In July, we talked and showed the ‘leaked’ trailer for AMC’s The Walking Dead on Zombie Popcorn Radio.  I didn’t want to post the video here on Zombie Popcorn until the official release of the trailer, due to the poor quality of the ‘leaked’ video. zombiesamc

Today, is that day.  AMC has released the official ‘The Walking Dead’ trailer

AMC’s The Walking Dead is a six-episode series based on the comic book written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The Walking Dead tells the story of life following a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, traveling in search of a safe and secure home. Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually, Teachers, Strike Back) will portray the lead role of Rick Grimes while actor Jon Bernthal (The Pacific, The Ghost Writer) will portray the character Shane, who worked with Rick in the police department before the zombie disaster. Other cast includes Laurie Holden (The Shield), who plays Andrea, one of two sisters who join the survivors of the zombie plague, Steven Yeun as Glenn, an expert scavenger and Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break), who plays Rick’s wife Lori.

Zombies Help Prisoners Escape from Prison

Posted on 26 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

Five inmates escaped a police precinct in Agora, Lapasan in Cagayan de Oro City. zombiebreak

How did they escape?  They had a little help from Zombies. According to the news wire, A police officer was busy playing the video game “Plants vs. Zombies” and left the keys. The inmates had no trouble stealing them.

For those who don’t know about ‘Plants vs. Zombies’ – and don’t understand how a police officer could ignore his duties – just watch this trailer for the game.

Reports say that four of the prisoners have been recaptured but no word if the officer has been put on leave.  I guess that would be more of a reward for him because he would be able to play ‘Plants vs Zombies’ more.

Dead Rising 2 Preview

Posted on 21 August 2010 by Hasan

This is the year of the zombie, for sure. I see them outside all the time and they don’t even know they’re zombies. I hope they realize before it’s too late. Anyway, I will save that topic for my political blog. There are better, more fun zombies I can talk about.

I have been obsessed with Left 4 Dead 2. It has been one of my favorite games all year long. My avatar is proud to wear L4D2 gear I unlocked during the hours I spent in front of the TV. All in all I love it but the experience is getting a bit stale. I am ready for some fresh zombie action.

Dead Rising 2 is almost here! The first game was one of the reasons I bought my 360. Despite a few flaws with controls and the save system I loved it. It was the best zombie game ever made at that time.

dr2_storypic1

This time around we have a new hero and the new environment. We’re leaving the mall behind in exchange for the shiny streets and casino buildings of Fortune City. None of this changes anything. Dead Rising 2 is still an amazing over the top zombie carnage simulator, only better. Chuck Green, a new hero, can get his hands on anything. This anything can be taped to the other anything in order to combine the most creative, twisted and wicked zombie murder toys you can imagine. Too sweet! Check the trailer for the proof.

dr2_storypic2

This zombie apocalypse has more to offer. There are claims being made about 1000 zombies on screen at one time. I can already see myself getting into a vehicle and driving over the crowds for that satisfying crunch sound. The game also offers 2 player co-op mode, bigger environments, better physics and mechanics, new characters and enemies, new save system, and much more.

Dead Rising 2’s release date of September 28th can’t come fast enough. It’s coming out for the PS3 and XBOX 360 and it seems a bit later for the PC. It’s almost time to take out that L4D2 disc out of my 360.

Be sure to check out Weapon of the Week contest over on TapeItOrDie.com and be on the look out for Zombie Popcorn‘s  exclusive Dead Rising 2 giveaway.

David Lynch Presents

Posted on 15 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

The film, My Son, My Son, What have ye Done? is directed by Werner Herzog and is expected to hit the streets this September. myson

Inspired by true events, My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done, is a story of ancient myth and modern madness. Brad Macallam, an aspiring actor performing in a Greek tragedy, commits the crime he is to enact in the play by killing his mother. The mystery unfolds in a series of flashbacks displaying the psychological destruction of the killer set off by an ill-fated white-water kayaking trip in a distant land.
Roger Ebert said this about the film,

Werner Herzog’s “My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done” is a splendid example of a movie not on autopilot. I bore my readers by complaining about how bored I am by formula movies that recycle the same moronic elements.

This film looks very interesting and may just be added to my personal collection.

Choose Your Own Adventure Book, I Mean Movie

Posted on 11 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

Remember the choose your own adventure books we used to read when we were kids? choose

Remember how much fun they were and how you tried to collect them all when the book fair came to your school?

Choose Your Own Adventure is a series of children’s gamebooks first published by Bantam Books from 1979-1998 and currently being re-published by Chooseco. Each story is written from a second-person point of view, with the reader assuming the role of the protagonist and making choices that determine the main character’s actions in response to the plot and its outcome.

Ok, now that I have taken you down memory lane what would you say if I say there is a Choose Your Own Adventure that involved zombies?  and what would you say if I told you it was not a book but a ‘movie’.

You would say AWESOME, where can I watch this?   – Right?

So here it is the Choose Your Own Adventure Zombie movie.

(more after the video.)

As you saw in the video  there is pizza company called, Hell Pizza.  Yes, this is a real pizza company and this is their commercial.  Their flagship store is headquartered in New Zealand and has locations in Ireland, Australia, UK  and apparently coming soon to Canada.

Don’t get your hopes up yet for the United States, I don’t see how a place like this would ever fly well in the states but if they ever arrive here – they will be my one and only pizza place.

Rosemary’s Baby

Posted on 10 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

In the history of horror films there is one film that stands out among the rest because of the mental scares it leaves on you,  That film is Rosemary’s Baby.  The dream-like feel the movie forces on its viewing audience is remarkable.  The entire time you are watching the film you are in disbelief of what is really happening. rosemarys-baby

Rosemary’s Baby is about a young couple move into a new apartment, only to be surrounded by peculiar neighbors and occurrences. When the wife becomes mysteriously pregnant, paranoia over the safety of her unborn child begins controlling her life.  *Spoiler Alert* What adds to this story is the fact that Rosemary’s husband sold her soul to the devil and allowed Satan to have sex and impregnate Rosemary.

If you think the story couldn’t become stranger then you should read the book, Rosemary’s Baby written by Ira Levin.  Over at the Zombie Popcorn Book Club you can pick up the Audiobook which is read by Mia Farrow, the ebook or the paperback.

Rosemary’s Baby is one of the only stories that I recommend reading the book and watching the movie – you will be completely satisfied with both but won’t be complete with just one.

Rosemary’s Baby is a 1967 best-selling horror novel and is said to have  major elements of the story  inspired by the publicity surrounding the Church of Satan of Anton LaVey which had been founded in 1966.

13 Tzameti

Posted on 08 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

Tzameti, which is Georgian for thirteen,  is a film that will kill you with suspense.  I feel everyone should watch this movie but words do not and can not describe the craftsmanship of this movie – so watch the trailer below to get a preview of the white knuckle suspense.   13

A clean-faced 20-year-old, Sebastien, leads an impoverished life with his immigrant family, constantly struggling to find the money for their next meal. When hired to repair the roof of the morphine-addicted Godon (Philippe Passon), Sebastien eavesdrops in on a conversation which appears to offer a quick and easy solution to his money troubles.

Intensely engaging and uniquely insightful 13 (Tzameti) is a thrillingly surreal journey that begins with the descent of a young man, Sebastien (Georges Babluani), into a sinister criminal underworld in which men gamble on each others lives in a shockingly brutal new sport…

Suck

Posted on 05 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

September 2, 2010 North America will get a once in a life time chance to see the best vampire movie of the year.  The movie is,  ’Suck‘   suck

Don’t miss the outrageous rock ‘n’ roll vampire spoof about a down and out band, The Winners, who will do anything for a record deal. When their disgruntled manager (Dave Foley) tells them that they are getting “long in the tooth”, he doesn’t know that his words are truly prophetic. During a road trip, their humdrum image radically changes when Jennifer (Jessica Paré), the bass player, disappears one night with a hip vampire(Dimitri Coats). She emerges with a sexually charged charisma that drives the audiences wild.

As the band members succumb, one by one, to blood lust, their “gimmick” launches them into the limelight. Following an “incident” on a national radio show with “Rock’n Roger” (Henry Rollins), they hit mega-stardom beyond their wildest dreams. Joey (Rob Stefaniuk), the lead singer, is haunted by an eerie bartender (Alice Cooper), who turns out to be much more. Meanwhile, legendary vampire hunter, Eddie Van Helsig (Malcolm McDowell), is tracking them down, despite his fear of the dark. When a veteran music producer (Iggy Pop)calls them on becoming a vampire freak show, they begin to realize that fame is not what it’s cracked up to be.

Suck is a wild ride down a highway to hell, with a killer soundtrack that includes Iggy Pop’s, “TVeye” and “Success”; Alice Cooper’s, “I am a Spider”; Lou Reed’s Velvet Underground’s “Sweet Nuthin”; David Bowie’s, “Here Comes the Night” and The Rolling Stones, “Sympathy for the Devil”.

The Hunt Begins

Posted on 03 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

A  film that is based in Edinburgh, Scotland slipped through my sight when it was released in the UK.   The film is New Town Killers.   new-town-killers

Two private bankers, Alistair and Jamie, who have the world at their feet get their kicks from playing a 12 hour game of hunt, hide and seek with people from the margins of society. Their next target is Sean Macdonald a parentless teenager who lives with his sister on a housing estate on the outskirts of Edinburgh. She’s in debt, he’s going nowhere fast. Sean agrees to play for cash. He soon realises he’s walked into twelve hours of hell where survival is the name of the game.

To me it feels like a modern day version of , The Most Dangerous Game with a little added twist to the hunt.

Zombie Popcorn Radio: The Gail Carriger Show

Posted on 02 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

In this episode of Zombie Popcorn Radio we look into the mind that created a new vision of vampires, werewolves, parasols and tea – the wonderful and talented, Gail Carriger.   gailtea

New York Times Bestselling author Gail Carriger began writing in order to cope with being raised in obscurity by an expatriate Brit and an incurable curmudgeon. She escaped small town life and inadvertently acquired several degrees in Higher Learning. Ms. Carriger then traveled the historic cities of Europe, subsisting entirely on biscuits secreted in her handbag. She now resides in the Colonies, surrounded by fantastic shoes, where she insists on tea imported directly from London. She is fond of teeny tiny hats and tropical fruit. The Parasol Protectorate books are: Soulless (Oct. 2009), Changeless (March 2010),Blameless (Sept. 2010), Heartless(2011), and Timeless (2012). Soulless won the ALA’s Alex Award.

Gail is the author of the The Parasol Protectorate Series. The books are comedies of manners set in Victorian London: full of vampires, dirigibles, and tea. They are either Jane Austen doing urban fantasy, or PG Wodehouse doing steampunk. Soulless, Book the First, came out October 2009 and the ‘Soulless’ audiobook was named one of Audible‘s top 20 sleeper hits. Changeless, Book the Second, in March 2010 and is a New York Times Bestseller. Blameless will be released September 1, 2010 from Orbit US. Heartless is due out Spring of 2011, and Timeless in the Spring of 2012.

Everything you ever wanted to know about Gail, her work, her strong dislike of sweet tea, steampunk, food and other things you would never think would come up in an interview is revealed here on Zombie Popcorn Radio.

So, put the tea pot on because for the next 2 hours sweet iced tea is not welcomed here, and enjoy this wonderful evening with Gail Carriger.

Zombie Popcorn’s Book Club: The Graveyard Book

Posted on 01 August 2010 by Jason Bayless

Zombie Popcorn’s Book Club just announced this weeks book and it is ‘The Graveyard Book‘ by Neil Gaiman.

This book is very interesting and if you like the story of Coraline you will love this story.   graveyardb

Bod is an unusual boy who inhabits an unusual place-he’s the only living resident of a graveyard. Raised from infancy by the ghosts, werewolves, and other cemetery denizens, Bod has learned the antiquated customs of his guardians’ time as well as their timely ghostly teachings-like the ability to Fade. Can a boy raised by ghosts face the wonders and terrors of the worlds of both the living and the dead? And then there are things like ghouls that aren’t really one thing or the other. This chilling tale is Neil Gaiman’s first full-length novel for middle-grade readers since the internationally bestselling and universally acclaimed Coraline. Like Coraline, this book is sure to enchant and surprise young readers as well as Neil Gaiman’s legion of adult fans.

If you haven’t already, head over to the Zombie Popcorn Book Club and grab a copy of the book and in the meantime, check out this reading of the first chapter of the book by Neil Gaiman.

‘Post from Prison’ Series Letter 9

Posted on 28 July 2010 by Jason Bayless

Welcome to the  Zombie Popcorn’s Post from Prison Series. prison_hands

Zombie Popcorn is opening its pages to the words of an individual who is sitting in prison.  We will get first hand experiences about life in prison.   They will talk about their likes, loves, dislikes and what is is like being in prison. Our first ‘Post from Prison‘ goes by the name, “Z0mbi3Kid“.  He would like to remain anonymous and he will post under that name.  This ensures that he can speak freely without the fear of being reprimanded.

You will be able respond to his writing in the comment section under each post.  I will then print out the post page and mail it to him for his response.

You can always find the other letters in the ‘Post from Prison’ archive.

  • Letter 9

Right now it is about 8:40am on July 17th, Sunday morning and I thought I would write and give an update of my situation.  Well, I got my answer back from parole and they decided to set me off until next June. So I will get reviewed for parole next June.  I’m fine with that because I was kind of expecting  it because of my history.  Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) has put a lot of pressure on the parole board in Texas and hardly any DWI’s (Driving while intoxicated) make  their first parole.  So I am just trying to work hard at my job and take every class available to me and hope they have mercy on me next year.  I have got some good things going on since I got to this unit.  I am no longer doing field labor on the hoe squad out in the heat. I have moved up to ‘Education Bld. Janitor”.  Yeah, I am the janitor at the school house M-F 6:30-2:30.  In my this is one of the best jobs on the unit because the education building has AIR CONDITIONING in it!  So I like going to work now, especially on days like last Friday when the heat index as 109 degrees in Texas.

I also got moved to a ‘working’ dorm. That is where everybody has jobs they have to be at every morning. This is good because it is very quiet.  The new building I’m in even has a window right beside it where I can open or close it.  So I have a constant breeze flowing by head all the time.  So yeah, even though I got set off till next June, my situation could be worse.

My Mom and Dad brought my daughter up here last weekend. That was really the highlight of m y month.  I only get to see them about once a month because Bonham is so far away from where they live.  My daughter seems like she is getter bigger every time I see her. She is learning to read and couldn’t wait to read to me. She read me a whole Dr. Seuss book during our visit. It was the ABC one. I was really happy and at the same time I was very heavy hearted because I’m missing so much of her life.  She is in gymnastics also and she was so proud that she had graduated up to the next class in gymnastics. She wanted to show me how she does some flips and cartwheels but she couldn’t show me because we all had to stay seated.

Yes, visits are very emotional and I feel close to tears the whole time.   Yes, I will defiantly remember how they fell next time I want to go get fucked up.  My daughter has been staying with my parents ever since she was six months old.  Her mom and I got in a car accident when she was six months. Her mom and I ended up in the hospital – I was in ICU for 7 days and thankfully recovered and got to come home. Her mom was in the ICU for 9 days bust wasn’t able to pull through.  My daughter lost her mom when she was six months old.  I handled everything so very, very wrong. Instead of being a man and being strong and being there for my daughter, I turned to drugs and alcohol.  It isn’t till now that I have actually slowed down and steeped back and looked at my life and what I have been doing to myself and to the people close to me.  All I see is a self-centered, asshole who cares about nobody but himself.  I feel like I am really at a turning point in my life this time because I realize now how I was.  I have never felt so determined not to be that person again.  In a weird way  coming to the penitentary probably saved my life in more ways than one.

Well, it is about 9:20 now and its starting to get hot. I am already starting to sweat so I am gonna run and find some water.  So until next time – take care.

—-“Z0mbi3Kid“

The following letter is a response letter to April – who left a comment on one of the past ‘Post from Prison’ posts.

April,

I am 28 years old. I am sorry to hear about your friend having to experience being locked up at such a young age. You maybe right about him feeling safe and secure in jail.  There are a lot of people  taht really get used to not worrying about where they are going to lay their head at night or where their next meal is gonna come from.  They get used to people telling them what to do and when they are to do it.  I guess it is like they say, they become institutionalized.

You said you saw  him the day he got out and it was like you didn’t even know him. I’ve always said that coming to jail for any length of time will defiantly change a person, whether for the better or worse it will change a person. So what is your relationship to this person?  How is he adjusting to life on the outside? Why are you so far away from him now?

If you don’t want to answer these questions on here – send a message to Jason and he will give you my mailing address so you write directly.  Or you can just keep posting on the Zombie Popcorn site. Either way I will be looking forward to hearing back from you.

Till then, so long.

—-“Z0mbi3Kid“

The Real Psycho

The Real Psycho

Posted on 25 July 2010 by Jason Bayless

The movie Psycho directed by Alfred Hitchcock,  is one of the best horror films of all time. Not only did  it set the atmosphere of suspense and fear it burned the image of Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates into everyone’s mind. At the same time it  made everyone afraid to take a shower. Psycho is now considered one of Hitchcock’s best films.

But what do we know about the history of Psycho and Robert Bloch – the guy who wrote the book, Psycho that was later adapted into the movie. psycho

Robert Bloch was born on April 5, 1917 and he was one of the youngest members of the H.P. Lovecraft Circle. Robert a contributor to pulp magazines such as Weird Tales in his early career, and was also a prolific screenwriter. He won a Hugo Award, which is an award given every year for the best science fiction or fantasy works and achievements. The Bram Stoker Award – which is a recognition presented by the Horror Writers Association (HWA) for “superior achievement” in horror writing and a long list of other awards and achievements.

Bloch based his book, Psycho on Ed Gein.   At the time of Gein’s arrest, Bloch was living 35 miles away from Plainfield in Weyauwega – Gein’s hometown and location for all his crimes.Robert Bloch was familiar with the Gein case because of being close to the locations, but not the specific details, Bloch began writing with “the notion that the man next door may be a monster unsuspected even in the gossip-ridden microcosm of small-town life.” Bloch was surprised years later when he “discovered how closely the imaginary character I’d created resembled the real Ed Gein both in overt act and apparent motivation.”

Robert Bloch also wrote two sequels to the Psycho story, Psycho II and Psycho House, but none of them are even related to the movie sequels.

The Robert Bloch novel, Psycho is a book that will grip you and shake you up from the inside-out – and I highly recommend it for everyone.

If you want pick up the hardcover or the audio book, head over to Zombie Popcorn’s Book Club and grab yourself a copy.

Saw 3D

Posted on 25 July 2010 by Jason Bayless

I have never been into the Saw films.  In fact, I have only seen parts of one and I stopped watching it because it bored me to death. I loved the concept of the movie and wished it would have been a little more exciting and visceral.

All that may change when the final chapter of the Saw franchise comes out in October.  Yes, I am talking about SAW 3D.  I think it will have the same effect on me as Final Destination 3D had on me. ( Meaning the 3D killings was the only thing that saved that movie.)

So, I am putting all my dislike of the Saw franchise aside and am hoping for an awesome 3D horror movie.

Here is the trailer …. don’t let me down Jigsaw.

The Madness of Alice

The Madness of Alice

Posted on 24 July 2010 by Jason Bayless

Remember back in 2000 when American McGee released the game ‘Alice’.  It was a based on the Alice in Wonderland stories but this time it included a dark, macabre, blood-soaked incarnation of Alice. amr-04_screen_656x369

Well, the ‘evil’ Alice has returned in the new game, ‘Alice: Madness Returns’.  (Trailer after the break)

Eleven years ago a horrific fire took Alice’s family from her and left her terribly burned—and her mind terribly scarred. Afterwards she was confined to Rutledge Asylum, struggling to come to terms with her demons by slipping into her fantasy world of Wonderland. Now, after ten years, she has finally secured her release–yet she still bears the heavy psychological burden of that tragic event.

In Alice: Madness Returns, Alice is released from the asylum to a London psychiatrist’s care. As nightmarish hallucinations continue to haunt her and invade her reality, she seeks to understand her torment in order to recover herself. Her mind in tatters, she is unable to resolve the fear and neuroses prompted by her strange memories, dreams, and visions. Her relocation to London seems only to add to their number and intensity.

Perhaps she’ll do better in Wonderland. She always has. She travels there, seeking what the “real” world can’t provide: security, knowledge, and the truth about the past. But in her absence, Wonderland too has suffered. Something has gone horribly wrong, and now a great evil is descending upon what once was her beautiful refuge.

Can Alice save Wonderland—and herself—from the madness that consumes them both?

  • July 17, 2010 Zombie Popcorn’s Book of the week;

Soulless: An Alexia Tarabotti Novel (Paul‘s Pick)

Victorian romance mixes seamlessly with elegant prose and biting wit – and werewolves – in Gail Carriger’s delightful debut novel. Soulless introduces Alexia Tarabotti, a parasol-wielding Londoner getting dangerously close to spinster status. But there are more important things than finding a husband. For Alexia was born without a soul, giving her the ability to render any vampire or werewolf completely powerless.

SOULLESS is a comedy of manners set in Victorian London: full of werewolves, vampires, dirigibles, and tea-drinking.

Somos lo que hay — A Family of Cannibals

Posted on 15 July 2010 by Jason Bayless

There is a new Spanish film that has a lot of people talking and has caught my attention.  That film is ‘Somos lo que hay’ aka ‘We are What We are’.     weare

The story line seems original and is set in modern times.  The way the story is told is what makes me want to see this film.

A middle-aged man dies in the street, leaving his widow and three children destitute. The devastated family is confronted not only with his loss but with a terrible challenge – how to survive. For they are cannibals. They have always existed on a diet of human flesh consumed in bloody ritual ceremonies… and the victims have always been provided by the father. Now that he is gone, who will hunt? Who will lead them? How will they slake their horrific hunger? The task falls to the eldest son, Alfredo, a teenage misfit who seems far from ready to accept the challenge… But without human meat the family will die.

Shocking, bloody and deeply moving, WE ARE WHAT WE ARE is a remarkable reinvention of the horror genre – a visceral and powerfully emotional portrait of a family bound by a terrible secret hunger and driven by monstrous appetites.

Sept. 3rd Machete is Coming for You!

Posted on 09 July 2010 by Jason Bayless

Back in April we told you about how Robert Rodriguez was working on a full featured film of the ‘fake’ trailer, Machete.   machete_0

Today, I am happy to let you know that the film will hit the streets on Sept. 3rd, 2010.

The cast is the same;

Danny Trejo , Steven Segal, Don Johnson, Cheech Marin, Robert DeNiro, Jeff Fahey and Michelle Rodriguez.

The story plot is the same;

The highly skilled Federale Machete is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he’s about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he’s been set up. He barely survives the sniper’s bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his old friend Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence. If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren’t you!

The new trailer- kick ass!

Fading of the Cries

Posted on 03 July 2010 by Jason Bayless

The film, ‘Fading of the Cries‘ seems like a cross between Harry Potter, Twilight, and Something Wicked this Way Comes.  I am very intrigued by this upcoming movie.   fading

Evil is resurrected in a small town threatening to destroy mankind and the only force that can stop it is a young man wielding a powerful sword.

Jacob (Jordan Matthews ), a young man armed with a deadly sword, saves Sarah (Hallee Hirsh ), a teenage girl, from Mathias (Brad Dourif ), a malevolent evil that has begun plaguing a small farmland town while in search of an ancient necklace that had belonged to Sarahs Uncle (Thomas Ian Nicholas ).

Jacob sets out to get Sarah home safely, running through streets, fields, churches and underground tunnels, while being pursued by hordes of demonic creatures. Along the way, both come to terms with the demons within themselves – Sarah begins to understand her hatred towards her mother (Elaine Hendrix ) and sister (Mackenzie Rosman ) may be unjustified and Jacob discovers the secrets of his past, realizing the only way to truly defeat the demons is to return to the very place his family was murdered.

ZP’s Book Club Pick of the Week: Jaws

Posted on 26 June 2010 by Jason Bayless

Another Zombie Popcorn Book Club book is here!

  • June 26, 2010 Zombie Popcorn’s Book of the week;

JAWS (Jason‘s Pick)

11-jaws  Author Peter Benchley’s classic tale of a great white shark that terrorizes the small resort town of Amity Island is certainly one of the greatest horror novels–and movies–of all time. Any audio version of the novel certainly has large shoes to fill in terms of entertainment value for blood-thirsty listeners. Narrator Erik Steele delivers a solid performance that brings new layers to the familiar characters of Hooper and Brody. Steele’s delivery has the characters speaking in a natural yet subtly terrified tone that seems to grant listeners access to the tale in a new way. Ultimately, the story is still as thrilling as, ever even without the John Williams score, and Erik Steele’s performance heightens the tension, thereby increasing the payoff at the conclusion

It is time, come with us as we re-visit the waters after all these years…. don’t be afraid it is only JAWS

Jaws (Hardcover)

By (author) Peter Benchley

List Price: $16.95 USD
New From: $10.44 In Stock
